Position Introduction:

The Senior Technical Assistance Manager is responsible for strategic program development, implementation, and administration that results in the delivery of high-impact technical assistance and resources that prevent substance misuse and other behavioral health problems in states, tribes, and communities.

The T/TA Manager - Suicide Prevention in Health Systems is responsible for delivering innovative training and technical assistance (T/TA) enhancing clinical practice among providers and promoting organizational change among health systems, with a focus on suicide care and the Zero Suicide framework. The T/TA Manager will review, share, and develop information about effective clinical programs, organizational policies, and practices that improve suicide care, prevention, and postvention outcomes across the nation. Under the supervision of the SPRC Director of Healthcare Initiatives, and in collaboration with other SPRC Health Care Initiatives team members, this position will provide expert technical assistance, build prevention capacity, promote the expansion of an informed national workforce, and strengthen suicide prevention infrastructure. A successful candidate will have extensive experience implementing behavioral health systems change and an in-depth knowledge of the Zero Suicide approach and the crisis care continuum.

Duties:

  • Directs T/TA program delivery, delivering training and consultation according to health care related grant deliverables.
  • Monitors and responds to T/TA requests and integrates requests into long-range objectives and work plans.
  • Serves on various external committees representing SPRC at relevant meetings and conferences, interfacing regularly with the public, contractors, and federal partners.
  • Ensures compliance with evaluation procedures for programs and trainings delivered
  • Directs and plans for T/TA service delivery to meet the needs of health and behavioral health providers and systems, identifying and addressing gaps.
  • Develops T/TA service goals and objectives in alignment with annual work plans.
  • Develops training curriculum, conference presentations and documents related to grant deliverables and annual work plans.
  • Oversees consultant work on trainings, courses, publications, and resources designed to reach health and behavioral health provider systems.
  • Performs various duties as needed and assigned by SPRC leadership, to successfully execute grant deliverable.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree.
  • 36 months of program administration or related experience.

Equivalency/Substitution:  will accept 72 months of related experience in lieu of the Master's degree for a total of 108 months of related experience.

Required Certifications and Licenses:

  • Valid Driver's License

Department Preferences:

• Master’s degree or Doctorate degree in public health or behavioral health
• Licensure with a health or behavioral health credentialing board, example: MSW, LPC, NP
• 48 months or more of experience managing/ leading suicide prevention efforts in a health or behavioral health system. This experience must include managing implementation of comprehensive models like the Zero Suicide framework across a behavioral health system
• 24 months or more experience developing and implementing suicide care in healthcare initiatives such as the Zero Suicide framework and the local, regional, state, or national level
• 36 months or more as a supervisor or manager of employees in a health, behavioral health, public health or crisis services system

Skills:

  • Able to communicate professionally and effectively, and build rapport quickly with colleagues, service recipients, providers and health system leadership
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple overlapping projects and deadlines
  • Experienced in reviewing and interpreting health and behavioral health system policies, as well as State and Federal regulations
  • Able to effectively contribute to evaluation plans for training and publication projects and programs and produce comprehensive reports
  • Able to assess health and behavioral health workforce development needs and identify appropriate resources and training
  • Able to supervise consultants and communicate directions and expectations effectively
  • Strong initiative to solve problems both independently and with involvement from teammates and leadership
  • Highly collaborative and able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
