Join CHEP's Supply Chain Digital Readiness team as a Serialization (S+) Process Solutions Lead, where you'll play a pivotal role in advancing our S+ serialization ecosystem across North America and beyond. In this highly visible global role, you'll partner with engineering, operations, digital, and supplier teams to optimize processes, enhance equipment performance, lead pilot initiatives, and drive the successful scaling of cutting-edge serialization technologies. Key Responsibilities May Include:

• Develop and manage large-scale capital engineering projects for automation, IoT and continuous improvement solutions, ensuring alignment with long-term business goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Health & Safety, Finance, Quality) and external suppliers to drive project success, managing stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead the preparation of Capex documents, including cost estimates, project justifications, equipment layouts, and technical specifications, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Manage equipment installation and commissioning, including contractor supervision, safety compliance, and ensuring adherence to all environmental regulations and legislative requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and increasing operational efficiency through the adoption of advanced technologies like AI, robotics, and digital twin models.
• Ensure the development and delivery of proper training programs and operational documentation (as-built drawings, manuals, spare parts lists) to ensure seamless handover to operational teams.
• Maintain strict financial control over capital projects, accurately forecasting expenditures, managing budgets, and ensuring fiduciary compliance throughout project execution.
• Champion Zero Harm and environmental standards, ensuring projects meet the highest safety requirements and adhere to regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.

The S+ Process Solutions Lead will lead and evolve the processes and technology driving S+ (our tag-based serialization ecosystem) in the Service Centers and other pallet-handling locations.  This role will work closely with the Chile and North America regional business teams, as well as the global teams in Technology Services (TS), Digital and Supply Chain (SC) Engineering to lead the development, standardization, implementation and continuous improvement of the processes, technology and infrastructure driving S+.  

 

The S+ Process Solutions Lead will also be the principal Process Owner sitting within Global Supply Chain for those parts of the end-to-end process that support the running of the of S+ ecosystem (i.e. equipment, infrastructure, and software solutions) in the service centers and other physical locations.  Within this scope is leading the continuous optimization of the processes through developments leveraging the data coming directly and indirectly from the S+ pallet scans to create incremental savings value in SC.

 

This position requires up to 50% across North and South America. Candidates must live near a major US airport.

Other Responsibilities Include:

• Work with local and global teams to lead and co-ordinate the developments of the equipment and software arising from the continuous improvement and product lifecycle processes (Digital, Technology Services, North America SC team and the Chile SC team)
• Coordinate and lead the site-based S+ Proof of Concept and Pilot project activities between the involved teams, both regionally and globally
• Measure and report the success of trials and test activities to product lifecycle governance bodies, giving your opinion on next steps and future actions
• Taking input from various stakeholders, define the global ramp-up and run metrics for the S+ equipment and processes
• With Digital and other teams, develop scorecards, tracking and follow-up processes for the S+ equipment to ensure ramp-up and run targets are met
• Track the expansion of the processes and equipment across North America and Chile and prepare and deliver progress updates.
• Lead the definition and documentation of the global operating processes for the S+ equipment in the service centers
• Drive the local teams to identify process and equipment improvements and turn these ideas into projects with the central teams, creating and documenting requirements and preparing the necessary project documents
• Drive the local Engineering teams to ensure maintenance and repair processes are suitably documented
• Validate that the assumptions and measures used to calculate the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) are appropriate and values used are correct in each TCO update cycle

 

Experience – What you’ll Bring

• Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical preferred)
• Process Engineering and Product development in Supply Chain/Manufacturing
• 10+ years in manufacturing, supply chain, industrial operations, automation, or logistics environments
• Experience leading technical projects from problem identification through implementation
• Process ownership mindset with end-to-end systems thinking
• Experience collaborating across engineering, operations, digital, and vendor teams
• Strong stakeholder influence without direct authority
• Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives
• Comfortable operating in complex global environments
• Program/project management capability
• Able to translate operational issues into technical requirements

 

Desirable Skills

• Electromechanical backgrounds strongly desired
• Machine vision, automation, industrial equipment, scanning, serialization, RFID, labeling, or tracking technologies
• Spanish language capability highly desirable
• Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen exposure
• Product lifecycle or industrialization experience
• Supply chain transformation experience
• Experience creating SOPs, playbooks, or scalable operating standards
• Financial/TCO optimization experience
