WHO YOU ARE You will help plan and execute against goals for the AGU Data Resilience Initiative and other relevant projects. You will have primary interface with a 3-person AGU Open Science team and will also have regular interaction with the executive level team members who serve as advisors for the Data Resilience Initiative. Report to the Executive VP. WHAT YOU WILL DO Co-lead with the Vice President for Open Science in assuring delivery of a global data resilience roadmap for Earth, Space and Environmental Sciences-to include assisting with global risk analysis and risk mitigation strategies for critical datasets. Consult with Earth, space and environmental data teams across the globe to define and implement global data interoperability standards. Assist with the strategy and recruitment of industry partners for engagement in the AGU global data resilience initiative. Serve as an AGU ambassador to engage with researchers, policy makers and funders as requested. Consult and co- lead in advancing additional AGU data science activities and participate with the AGU team in defining and executing against other data science-related prioritized needs.  Participate in weekly virtual team meetings. WHAT YOU WILL BRING Familiarity with Earth, space and environmental science data types and challenges.  (The successful applicant does not need to be a data science expert but does need to have more than a basic understanding of data science principles and needs.) Close work with the Earth, space, and environmental sciences is a plus. Familiarity with the research data repository community both in the US and globally. Ability to grasp and learn quickly. Ability to facilitate identifying and connecting individuals who are experts to discuss current status, risk mitigation, and next steps. Basic knowledge of data management, open science concepts and the data science community. Professional communications skills to help represent AGU strategic efforts with global partners and audiences, and who is skilled and comfortable in communicating with senior level scientists, policy makers and funders.
