Job Description:

Longevity Consulting is a rapidly growing federal contracting organization based out of Washington D.C.  We are currently supporting the FTA (Federal Transit Administration) which is an agency within the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) that provides financial and technical assistance to local public transportation rail systems. The FTA is one of ten modal administrations within the DOT.   The purpose of the State Safety Oversight program is to oversee safety at rail transit systems. The SSO program is administered by eligible states with rail transit systems within their jurisdiction.

 

Generally regarded as an expert in their industry or field. The Sr. Investigator can lead audit, investigation, inspection, and review teams. Provides technical, managerial, and administrative direction for problem-definition, analysis, requirements-development and implementation for complex to extremely complex systems in the subject matter area of State Safety Oversight for Rail Transit Systems. Makes recommendations and advises on organization-wide improvements or optimization. The Senior Investigator is knowledgeable of the various stakeholders within the transit safety management community, and their complex interrelationships. 

Responsibilities


  • Monitoring and analysis of procedural and regulatory requirements, including Federal Transit Administration (FTA) standards for transit safety and security practices.
  • Responsible for accepting calls from transit agencies for accidents/incidents and submitting investigative reports as required by federal regulations. Responsible for monitoring the execution of practices and procedures by each agency by performing audits, site visits, and meeting deadlines for FTA reporting criterion.

  • Responsible for the administration of an FTA Grant directly related to State Safety Oversight and tracking financial and operational progress.

  • May require some limited and occasional overnight travel. 



Job Qualifications:  Education 

Minimum Bachelor’s in any field. Preferred relevant fields include transportation, government, engineering, business. Post-graduate degree is advantageous. Training and certifications – Completion of Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) Transit Safety and Security Audit Course within the past 5 years is preferred. Other audit or investigative training and certifications are advantageous based on the relevance and quality of the content. Relevant experience – at least 20 years. Additional experience is advantageous. Management or leadership experience – at least 10 years. Additional is advantageous. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of safety and risk management in a rail environment. Must have experience with SSO program requirements including 49 USC 5329 and 49 CFR Part 674.
