Staff Platform Engineer (GCP)

Job Purpose

We’re on a journey to transform how our engineers build, deploy, and run software. Our estate spans the full spectrum, from modern cloud-native platforms to long-standing legacy systems. We are looking for a senior engineer to help build the foundations that make delivery faster, safer, and more enjoyable. That’s where you come in.

As our Staff Platform Engineer, you’ll be a senior, hands-on technical contributor who solves complex problems and helps set the direction for our engineering platforms. You’ll design and build self-service tools, improve the developer experience, and play a key role in our shift to modern cloud practices. Just as important, you’ll mentor other engineers, helping them level up their skills and adopt the platforms we create.

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure developer platforms across cloud and hybrid environments. 

• Contribute to and drive the implementation of tools like Terraform to standardize infrastructure as code across teams and environments. 

• Build intuitive self-service capabilities, including AI/agentic tooling, that make developers’ lives easier. 

• Collaborate on modernizing legacy workloads and help teams adopt cloud-native practices. 

• Mentor other engineers and collaborate with technical leads to solve complex problems. 

• Contribute to improvements in speed, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on expertise in GCP. 

• A solid background in Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability. 

• A track record of contributing to and delivering key components of developer platforms and self-service tools. 

• A strong background in a coding language and building software, understating how AI development harnesses might be built into shared platform capabilities 

• The ability to connect team-level technical decisions to broader platform strategy. 

• A passion for mentoring, collaboration, and improving the developer experience.
