About CINC
CINC is one platform for the full work of community management. More than 55,000 associations and more than 6 million doors rely on it, from the management company teams who run the work to the boards and residents who experience the result. In January 2024, Hg Capital made a significant investment in CINC to accelerate growth and rapid product development.
What sets CINC apart is Community Intelligence℠: the advantage created when trusted community information and actions work together across the platform. Powered by Cephai, the AI engine inside CINC, it brings the right context and next step into the work while keeping people in control. Intelligence recommends. People decide. The goal is simple: Less Tedious. More Meaningful.
We are modernizing our architecture, product, and engineering culture so that context stays with the work as it moves across the platform. As a Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will help set that technical direction.
About the role
You will design and deliver modern, scalable applications that stay close to the people who use them, while setting the technical approach for complex, cross-team initiatives. The work spans the stack: backend services and APIs, responsive web applications, and shared components that carry context across the CINC platform.
This role fits an experienced engineer who thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment, values craftsmanship, and knows how to evolve large systems safely from monolith to microservices. You are comfortable owning ambiguous, high-impact problems and influencing direction beyond your immediate team. You will work closely with product, design, platform, and AI engineering to build software that is robust, maintainable, and built for what comes next.
What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain high-quality web applications using TypeScript, Node.js, and frameworks such as React, Next.js, or NestJS.
- Drive the evolution of CINC's architecture from monolith to modular microservices, applying sound system design and domain-driven thinking and defining service boundaries across teams.
- Develop and consume RESTful and GraphQL APIs with a strong grasp of service boundaries, contract design, and versioning, and establish API standards that other teams adopt.
- Implement event-driven and message-based integrations that improve scalability, resilience, and decoupling.
- Apply modern engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, and continuous delivery.
- Partner with design and product to turn complex requirements into simple, usable features.
- Practice code review, pair programming, and iterative delivery in line with Extreme Programming (XP) values.
- Bring Cephai-powered capabilities into user-facing features by integrating APIs and shared AI services where they help people do the work.
- Mentor and grow senior and mid-level engineers, raising the bar on system design, testing, and clean code across teams.
- Lead technical discussions on architecture, reliability, and performance, and influence decisions that affect multiple teams.
- Lead technical design and delivery of cross-team initiatives, breaking ambiguous problems into clear plans and aligning stakeholders on trade-offs.
What you bring
Core technical expertise
- 7+ years of software engineering experience building production web applications or SaaS products.
- Deep fluency in TypeScript and JavaScript, with frameworks such as React, Next.js, or NestJS.
- Deep expertise in backend architecture, including monolith decomposition, microservice principles, and API design best practices.
- A proven record of designing and maintaining RESTful or GraphQL APIs with clear contracts and documentation at scale.
- Working knowledge of modern DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, observability, and containerized deployments.
- Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Solid experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development (TDD).
- Experience making and documenting architectural decisions (such as ADRs) that balance scalability, cost, and maintainability.
Collaboration and leadership
- Clear communication of design choices and technical trade-offs to engineers, product managers, designers, and senior stakeholders, and the ability to influence decisions across teams.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex, multi-team initiatives from idea to deployment, balancing speed with quality.
- Experience in cross-functional teams, leading architectural discussions and reviews.
- A learning-first mindset, with curiosity about new frameworks, design patterns, and AI-driven development.
- A record of mentoring engineers and raising technical standards without relying on formal management authority.
Nice to have
- Experience integrating AI-powered services such as chatbots, copilots, or search assistants.
- Familiarity with LLM orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, or similar).
- Background in event-driven architecture or streaming systems such as Kafka, SNS/SQS, or Pub/Sub.
- Exposure to vector databases or retrieval-augmented workflows.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and container orchestration (Terraform, Docker).
- Previous work on XP or Agile teams that practice pairing, refactoring, and continuous integration.
Mindset and values
- A builder's mindset with a bias for simplicity, quality, and customer value.
- A clear communicator who values collaboration, feedback, and mentorship.
- A learning-first attitude, with interest in emerging technologies and continuous improvement.
- A pragmatic approach: you balance short-term delivery with long-term system health and make sound trade-offs under ambiguity.
- Respect for the people behind the software. Our users are community association managers, board members, and residents, and our AI recommends while people decide.
What success looks like
- Features ship quickly, safely, and predictably, with measurable gains in performance and user satisfaction.
- Systems move from tightly coupled to modular and maintainable, guided by your technical direction.
- You are a trusted technical leader who raises standards across teams through architecture, communication, and collaboration.
- CINC's full-stack engineering teams move faster, with greater clarity and confidence.
- Engineers around you grow in capability and independence, and the cross-team initiatives you lead land with clarity and minimal rework.
- The work gets Less Tedious. More Meaningful. for the people who use CINC every day.
