Code for America is looking for a talented Staff DevOps Engineer who will play a critical role in transforming compliance from a constraint into an operational strength. Through hands-on execution across cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and monitoring, you ensure that security, availability, and data integrity are built into the platform by default. This work allows civic programs to scale responsibly while maintaining public trust.
We’re seeking an experienced Staff DevOps Engineer to help design, automate, and scale secure, compliant cloud infrastructure supporting containerized and AI-powered applications. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, compliance-driven environments (SOC 2, HIPAA, or similar), and is passionate about Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), CI/CD, and enabling developer velocity through automation and best practices.
This role will report to the Senior Director of Product Engineering and is expected to travel no more than 5% of the time.
Code for America is based in California and can employ those who reside full-time within the United States. This is a remote position.

Code for America’s salary bands are transparent as a part of our commitment to transparency and fairness. As part of our hiring practices, we aim to target the midpoint of the 2nd quartile of the range for all new hires.
Offer targets vary based on market / geographic location. The offer targets for this role range from $128,945 to $157,850, annually.
