Staff Accountant

Vontier is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative accounting professional to support Vontier’s corporate accounting team with bookkeeping, statutory audits, SOX compliance, and acting as a system administrator for accounting systems. This role will be remote (based in Brazil) and reports to the corporate accounting team in the United States.

Key Responsibilities.

• Support month-end and year-end accounting close activities, including the preparation and posting of journal entries and timely completion of financial reporting deliverables.
• Support the monthly consolidation of financial results. 
• Support statutory financial audits and preparation of statutory financial statements.

• Serve as a system administrator for accounting platforms: manage user access/modification requests, import and maintain foreign exchange rates, open/close 

  accounting periods, and support system configuration changes.

   

• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses to support close and audit processes. 
• Perform monthly and quarterly controls as part of SOX compliance.
• Perform calculations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
• Assist with audit requests.
• Assist with ad-hoc finance and accounting projects.
• Drive process improvements and automation opportunities across corporate accounting to increase efficiency and accuracy.

WHO YOU ARE (Qualifications).

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in finance or accounting. 
• Skills, Abilities and Knowledge:
  • Ability to communicate verbally and written in English.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel – comfortable using PivotTables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS/COUNTIFS, data validation/conditional formatting and similar Excel formulas and configurations.
  • Comfortable working in a highly decentralized environment and able to work independently.
  • Values collaboration and flexibility in shifts in needs and works.
  • Critical thinker with ability to appropriately prioritize quickly.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem solving. 
  • Continuous improvement mindset and driving those initiatives.
  • SOX/controls experience and demonstrated ability to document controls.
  • Comfortable learning new accounting systems.
  • Applied experience with close cycle preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP system preferred.
