About the role

The Senior Software Engineer in QA Automation and Engineering Team serves as a technical consultant and lead responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise engineering and test automation solutions that meet or exceed business needs.

The Senior Software Engineer is expected to possess strong technical expertise in test automation, software quality, Salesforce platform testing, API testing, integration validation, and enterprise application testing, along with strong leadership and mentoring skills. The incumbent typically works on highly complex business applications, integrations, and testing frameworks supporting critical enterprise systems.

The Senior Software Engineer is familiar with a variety of quality engineering concepts, practices, and procedures and performs the most complex testing, automation, and validation activities with minimal guidance. The incumbent serves as a key advisor to Project Managers and Engineering leadership regarding quality strategy, testing scope, automation approaches, project sizing, and estimation. The incumbent is expected to proactively contribute recommendations that improve software quality, release confidence, operational stability, and engineering efficiency. The role may serve as a Subject Matter Expert for quality engineering practices, Salesforce platforms, enterprise integrations, or automated testing frameworks.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Engage with system users, business analysts, product owners, and engineering teams to identify testing requirements, quality risks, automation opportunities, and validation strategies.
  • Actively contribute to the development of quality engineering solutions and automation strategies that improve software reliability and release confidence.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks for web applications, APIs, Salesforce platforms, and enterprise integrations.
  • Create quality test plans, test strategies, test cases, automation designs, and supporting documentation to ensure comprehensive system validation.
  • Define and implement automated testing approaches that align with project objectives and enterprise quality standards.
  • Maintain a holistic understanding of connected systems and validate end-to-end business processes across multiple applications and platforms.
  • Produce reliable, maintainable, and scalable test automation solutions that support current business needs and future growth.
  • Ensure high quality standards through functional, integration, regression, smoke, system, and user acceptance testing activities.
  • Perform automated and manual validation of web applications, APIs, enterprise integrations, and Salesforce-based solutions.
  • Collaborate with development teams to proactively identify defects, validate fixes, and improve overall product quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop and execute automated API testing using industry-standard tools and frameworks.
  • Validate data integrity, system integrations, and business processes through backend testing and SQL-based data verification.
  • Support Salesforce platform initiatives through validation of standard and custom functionality, Lightning components, Flows, security models, integrations, reports, and dashboards.
  • Integrate automated testing processes into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing initiatives across engineering teams.
  • Effectively perform automation reviews, testing walkthroughs, and quality assessments while promoting engineering best practices.
  • Provide accurate and timely estimates for testing efforts, automation development, and quality-related project activities.
  • Act as a technical advisor for quality engineering initiatives, offering guidance on automation frameworks, testing strategies, tools, and processes.
  • Identify quality risks, gaps in test coverage, and operational concerns while driving mitigation plans and resolution activities.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation, release planning, and retrospectives.
  • Serve as a primary contact for complex testing issues, release validation activities, and production quality concerns.
  • Mentor team members on automation practices, testing methodologies, Salesforce quality assurance, and quality engineering standards.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure project goals, release objectives, and overall quality expectations are achieved.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to automation coverage, testing efficiency, release quality, and engineering processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Experience

  • 7-10 years of experience in software quality engineering, quality assurance automation, or enterprise application testing.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing frameworks.
  • Strong experience validating web applications, APIs, integrations, and enterprise business processes.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments and participating in sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, testing, and release activities.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications in production environments and resolving complex business and technical issues.
  • Salesforce platform testing experience is highly preferred.

Required Technical Qualifications

  • Strong programming and automation development experience using Java.
  • Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, TestNG, and JUnit.
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated REST API test suites using tools such as REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or similar frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies including functional, integration, regression, smoke, system, and user acceptance testing.
  • Experience validating enterprise integrations, service interfaces, and backend business processes.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience performing backend data validation and troubleshooting using relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across business and technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud applications.
  • Experience validating Salesforce functionality including Lightning Experience, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, Profiles, Permission Sets, Reports, Dashboards, and integrations with external systems.
  • Experience using SOQL for data validation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience automating Salesforce testing using Selenium or equivalent automation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based environments such as AWS.
  • Experience working within financial services, payments, fintech, or other regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of API mocking, test data management, and service virtualization practices.
