Sr. Project Manager, Interconnection Projects & Grid Infrastructure Delivery

Position Summary

Antora is seeking a Manager, Interconnection Projects & Grid Infrastructure Delivery to own the delivery of interconnection engineering, SCADA and telemetry systems, and grid infrastructure for Antora’s thermal energy storage projects across multiple RTOs/ISOs. This is a hands-on role: the person in this seat will write/validate the statements of work, hold the budget, set the schedule, and hold consultants, Owner’s Engineers and EPC firms to deliverables that are technically defensible.

The ideal candidate combines practical program management discipline, scope definition, cost and schedule control, change management with enough engineering fluency to interrogate a data point list, an architecture diagram or an interface control document and recognize what is missing. The role works across Antora’s portfolio in MISO, SPP, ERCOT and PJM, and partners closely with interconnection and grid engineering, project development, product engineering, legal and finance.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Interconnection Engineering & Infrastructure Delivery

  • Manage engineering firms from concept through issued-for-construction design, covering substations, switchyards, POI configurations, protection and control, metering, grounding, and equipment specifications. Optimize configurations for reliability and cost.
  • Ensure designs incorporate interconnection studies and GIA/LGIA/DIA obligations; resolve changes affecting design, cost, or schedule.
  • Lead utility and transmission owner coordination on facilities and network upgrades, including scope, estimates, transmission-owner-built versus self-built options, engineering reviews, and milestones.
  • Manage Owner’s Engineer and EPC interfaces, define scope boundaries, coordinate long-lead equipment procurement and negotiations, and oversee construction with EPC and engineering teams. Deliver complete packages for construction and commissioning.

  Consultant & Vendor Management

  • Write SOWs and manage RFPs, technical and commercial bid evaluation, contracting, purchase orders, invoices, budgets, change management, and closeout.
  • Define deliverables, dependencies, exclusions, and separately priced uncertain tasks. Assess relevant experience and gaps, enforce not-to-exceed estimates, and reject fixed-price or fixed-timeline commitments without documented precedent.
  • Maintain reusable SOW templates, vendor qualification standards, and bid evaluation criteria.

  SCADA, Telemetry & Metering

  • Scope and contract SCADA/telemetry engineering; determine responsibility for detailed SCADA/DCS engineering and programming across EPC, integrator, or in-house teams before contracting.
  • Drive novel measurement methods, including translating stored thermal energy into reportable state of charge, through separately scoped, not-to-exceed tasks. Own settlement-quality metering design and validation.
  • Align ICCP configuration and Open Loop/Closed Loop testing with RTO requirements preceding Test Energy and Trial Operation.

  Portfolio, Schedule & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Own integrated schedules, critical paths, dependencies, and milestones. Maintain one portfolio record of deliverables, technical assumptions, open issues, and RTO/TO correspondence.
  • Partner with interconnection/grid engineering, development, execution, product engineering, operations, commercial, legal, and finance teams to align delivery with project commitments. Communicate cost, schedule, and risk to leadership and nontechnical stakeholders; escalate critical-path exposure early.

Key Qualifications

• 6+ years managing capital energy or electric infrastructure projects—generation, storage, substations, or transmission—with direct accountability for vendor scope, budgets, schedules, and change management.
• Experience designing interconnection configurations, evaluating feasibility, selecting and procuring equipment, and coordinating interconnection/substation engineering with utilities and transmission owners.
• Ability to identify gaps in one-line diagrams, protection schemes, point lists, interface control documents, and architecture diagrams.
• Utility-scale generator experience with SCADA, telemetry, protection and control, or substation automation sufficient to scope work, evaluate bids, and challenge deliverables.
• Working knowledge of interconnection studies, GIA/LGIA obligations, and the scoping, costing, and construction of interconnection facilities and network upgrades.
• Strong technical writing and ability to independently manage concurrent projects across geographies and counterparties, navigate ambiguity, prioritize competing deadlines, and raise issues early.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, another engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Additional Qualifications Desired

• Exposure to ICCP, RTU integration, or RTO telemetry validation, and to resource integration or ICCP modeling teams.
• Experience with synchronous generator telemetry, settlement-quality metering, and co-located, hybrid, or surplus interconnection configurations.
• Utility, transmission owner, IPP, or developer-side delivery experience.

Salary Range:  $163,000 USD - $200,000 USD

Salary Basis:  Annual

The actual salary offered will be within the posted range and determined based on several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experiences, credentials and expertise, as they pertain to the position's requirements.
