Description

As a Product Owner specializing in Lending within the banking sector, you will lead the strategic design, development, and enhancement of lending products and digital capabilities. Operating as a consultant, you will partner with business stakeholders, technology teams, and compliance functions to define product vision, translate business needs into actionable requirements, and ensure value delivery aligned with regulatory standards and customer expectations.

• Define and maintain the product roadmap for lending platforms (e.g., consumer loans, small business loans, commercial credit, mortgage).

• Conduct market, regulatory, and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for product growth and optimization.

• Advise banking clients on digital lending transformation, modernization strategies, and operational efficiency improvements.

• Facilitate alignment between business units, technology, risk, and legal teams.

• Lead workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, and decision forums with senior stakeholders.

• Communicate vision, priorities, and progress clearly across both business and technical audiences.

• Advocate for intuitive, streamlined digital lending experiences across onboarding, underwriting, servicing, and collections.

• Leverage analytics and customer feedback to improve conversion, reduce friction, and enhance borrower engagement.

• 5–10+ years in banking, lending, or fintech; strong understanding of lending lifecycle.

• Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Consultant within financial services.

• Strong knowledge of lending regulations and compliance standards.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to translate complex business challenges into scalable product solutions

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Translate business objectives into clear and actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows.

• Prioritize backlog items based on business value, technical dependencies, and regulatory obligations.

• Collaborate with engineering, UX, and QA teams to ensure timely and high quality delivery.

• Ensure lending workflows comply with federal and state regulations (e.g., ECOA, FCRA, HMDA, AML/KYC).

• Work with risk officers to ensure lending products meet credit policy and compliance guidelines.

• Partner with audit and compliance teams during regulatory reviews and reporting cycles.

• Implement controls for data quality, customer protection, and loan decision making transparency.

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
