Microsoft is seeking an experienced editor and content strategist to lead the company’s journalism-style storytelling for Asia.  

As the Asia owned storytelling lead, you will join a high-performing team of digital storytellers who manage the global Microsoft Source network. In this role, you will work closely with numerous internal and external stakeholders in Asia and around the globe to execute our go-direct strategy to help journalists, influencers, policy makers, tech enthusiasts and business decision makers understand Microsoft’s top news, innovation, societal impact and work with customers and partners.   

This deeply collaborative role will require you to understand the company’s top communications priorities and create content about those topics that is approachable, understandable and people-focused.   

Our team uses journalism-style storytelling – including blogs, news stories, feature stories, visuals, social first assets and other media – to share the company’s top news, innovations and corporate priorities with journalists, influencers, analysts and tech enthusiasts.  #commsgroup

 


Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include leading and developing rich, journalism-style content to a worldwide audience of journalists, analysts, influencers, policy makers, business decision makers and fans who follow the company. This role requires the skills of an editor and newsroom leader, along with the organization and tactical execution of an experienced project manager. Candidates should be extremely organized, motivated individuals with great communication skills and the ability to collaborate successfully with stakeholders throughout the company and beyond.   

Candidates also should have a strong understanding of the way news and information flows online today, with experience in driving reach and engagement via content syndication and amplification. That includes experience using LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram and GEO/SEO to reach key audiences, along with a passion for continuing to learn about new mediums and tactics for engaging audiences online.  



Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:  

  • The ability to speak, write and edit fluently in English.  

  • 12+ years of experience in journalism, corporate storytelling and/or a related field  

  • A keen interest in, and curiosity about, the latest trends in technology innovation, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing and datacenter technology.  

  • A knack for telling stories about deeply technical topics in a way that is understandable and relatable to a non-technical audience.  

  • The ability to create, or oversee creation of, assets including written feature stories and blog posts, still photography, videos and other social-first visual media, such as graphics and GIFs.  

  • A growth mindset and the desire to experiment with new and emerging forms of content in order to reach a broad set of audiences  

  • A talent for collaborating effectively and diplomatically with a number of stakeholders across research, engineering, communications, marketing and social media teams, as well as to work effectively with external partners and customers outside the company.  

  • The capacity to work quickly and decisively to meet deadlines
