Join Zip's leadership team and play a critical role in protecting customers, merchants, partners, and the business while enabling continued growth and innovation. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Senior Director, Fraud & Abuse is responsible for leading Zip US’s Fraud & Abuse function and executing a multi-year strategy that protects customers, merchants, and the business while enabling sustainable growth.

As the functional leader for Fraud & Abuse, you will oversee strategy, operations, fraud prevention, investigations, abuse management, and organizational capability. You will modernize fraud decisioning through advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, behavioral intelligence, and automation while ensuring operational excellence and an exceptional customer experience. You will serve as Zip US’s principal advisor on Fraud & Abuse, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Operations to solve complex fraud challenges, strengthen trust, and deliver scalable business outcomes.

  • Develop and Lead the execution and evolution of Zip US’s multi-year Fraud & Abuse strategy, translating business priorities into scalable operational capabilities.
  • Lead cross functional fraud prevention, detection, investigation, recovery, and abuse management activities.
  • Continuously evolve and optimize Fraud & Abuse operating models through machine learning, AI, predictive analytics, behavioral intelligence, and automation.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and banking partners.
  • Serve as the functional subject matter expert and trusted advisor on Fraud & Abuse, providing guidance on emerging threats, operational design, and fraud technology investments.
  • Enhance  fraud intelligence capabilities leveraging internal and external data sources to improve direction and decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement in fraud loss performance while maintaining customer experience.
  • Develop governance, reporting, and performance frameworks that enable executive decision-making and operational excellence
  • Lead vendor strategy and fraud technology partnerships.
  • Build, lead and develop a world-class team of fraud professionals, analysts, investigators, and leaders.

What you'll bring to the team

Education and training

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, data science, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CFE, CAMS, CFCS, FRM, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in fraud, financial crimes, risk operations, payments, fintech, banking, or related disciplines.
  • 8+ years leading large-scale fraud strategy and operational organizations.
  • Experience leading in organizations of 200+ employees.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing machine learning, AI, advanced analytics, and automated decisioning capabilities.
  • Proven success leading transformational change initiatives.
  • Experience working closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and machine learning teams.

Leadership

  • An inspiring and transformational executive capable of creating a compelling vision and aligning teams around strategic priorities.
  • Serves as the principal advisor to senior leadership on Fraud & Abuse strategy, emerging risks, and operational performance.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing organizations.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence executive leadership and effectively present fraud strategy, operational performance, and emerging risks to board stakeholders.
  • Operates as an enterprise leader first and a functional leader second.

Zip is committed to a straightforward and transparent pay structure. The actual base salary will be determined by various individualized factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, location, internal equity, as well as other objective business considerations. The annual base pay range for this position is $220,000 - $270,000 . This range reflects Zip's US national compensation (USN). Additional premium percentages may apply based on Zip's tiered premium strategy. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.

If hired, employees will be in an at-will position, and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation, or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department or team performance, and market factors.
