IPG works in the contiguous 48 states, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico handling a variety of claims including, but not limited to auto physical damage, inland marine cargo, dealers' open lot, property damage (commercial and homeowners) and general liability.

Reporting to a Claims Supervisor, the Claims Examiner is responsible for investigating and settling liability and first party claims and third-party claims, with an emphasis on strong communication, organization and customer service, while utilizing client and state specific guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Investigate liability claims to determine coverage, liability, and damages.

  • Review accident reports, witness statements, medical documentation, and related claim materials.

  • Conduct interviews with claimants, insureds, witnesses, and other involved parties.

  • Analyze policy provisions and coverage details to determine claim applicability.

  • Manage assigned claims from initial report through resolution.

  • Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves based on claim exposure.

  • Evaluate damages including bodily injury, liability exposure, and property damage.

  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, and other involved parties.

  • Coordinate with defense counsel and assist in litigation management when applicable.

  • Maintain regular communication with clients, insureds, claimants, and legal representatives.

  • Provide updates regarding claim status, strategy, and resolution progress.

  • Deliver high-quality customer service while managing sensitive claim situations.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed claim documentation within the claims management system.

  • Ensure claim handling complies with company guidelines, regulatory requirements, and client service standards.

  • Identify potential fraud indicators and escalate concerns when appropriate.

  • Manages complex and high-exposure liability claims, including significant bodily injury and litigated claims

  • Develops claim strategies and works closely with defense counsel and internal leadership on complex matters

  • Serves as a technical resource and mentor to less experienced adjusters

  • May assist with training, file reviews, and complex claim consultations

  • Brings strong expertise in casualty, commercial liability, and claim resolution strategy

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience   

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred

  • 5-7 years of liability or casualty claims handling experience

  • Required - resident of the United States

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, litigated, and high-severity claims

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Claims adjusting licenses as required by jurisdiction

  • AIC designation preferred

Competencies

  • Strong investigative, analytical, and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple claims while maintaining quality and service standards.

  • Work collaboratively with others inside and outside the company

Environment/Working Conditions:

  • Dynamic environment with tight deadlines, number and changing priorities

  • Location: Remote working but may require some travel to home office, etc.
