TITLE:                         Sr. Business Intelligence Specialist

REPORTS TO:            SVP Strategic Solutions

STATUS:                     Salaried

LOCATION:                 Remote

SCHEDULE:                40 hours/week. On call and possible after hour support required

PAY:                            $95,000 - $115,000/yr

JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist designs, develops, and optimizes enterprise BI, reporting, and data integration solutions that support strategic and operational decision-making. This role serves as a senior technical resource within the BI team, translating complex business requirements into scalable data models, ETL workflows, reports, and dashboards.

The Senior BI Specialist brings advanced Alteryx expertise and strong SQL and BI development experience, while providing technical guidance, promoting development standards, and identifying opportunities to improve automation, data quality, and reporting capabilities across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Partner with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate complex business needs into effective technical solutions.
• Design, develop, optimize, and maintain ETL workflows and data integration solutions, with a strong focus on Alteryx.
• Develop and maintain enterprise reports, dashboards, data models, and analytics solutions using Tableau, Tableau Cloud, and related technologies.
• Serve as a technical resource for Alteryx development, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and best practices.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, security, and governance across BI and reporting environments.
• Identify opportunities to automate, standardize, and improve existing BI and ETL processes.
• Troubleshoot complex data, reporting, and performance issues and recommend long-term solutions.
• Establish and promote BI development standards, documentation, and repeatable processes.
• Provide technical guidance, peer review, mentoring, and cross-training to team members.
• Stay current on emerging BI, data management, automation, and AI technologies.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in business intelligence, data analytics, reporting, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience developing SQL- and ETL-based BI solutions.
• Advanced hands-on Alteryx experience, including developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex workflows.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases and enterprise data environments.
• Experience developing enterprise reports and dashboards using Tableau, Tableau Cloud, or similar BI tools.
• Demonstrated ability to independently translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience providing technical guidance or mentoring to other developers or analysts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent technical experience.
• Relevant industry experience and familiarity with similar business processes, data, or operational environments.
• Experience with Alteryx Server/Alteryx Analytics Cloud, including workflow deployment, scheduling, and administration.
• Experience with enterprise data warehouses, dimensional data modeling, APIs, and cloud-based data sources.
• Programming or scripting experience using Python, R, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of SDLC, source control, testing, change management, and deployment methodologies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the responsibilities of the job, the person in this position will be required to frequently communicate information so others will understand. The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time and must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. The person in this position may need to occasionally move about the inside of an office. The person in this position may need to position self to maintain files in a cabinet and place computers under a desk or in a cabinet. This position requires ability to constantly observe typewritten text on a computer screen. The person in this role is required to operate a laptop and use a telephone regularly. The person in this position may be required to travel throughout the USA by automobile or airplane which may require overnight lodging.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the person in this role may be in a stationary position in an office setting and may be exposed to quiet to moderate noise level.
