We are looking for a Draftsman to convert client-approved engineering drawings into detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks. The ideal candidate for this role should be proficient in modifying and refining existing drawings, producing non-standard plate exports and CNC router files, and ensuring all output complies with relevant drafting standards. This role is critical for translating approved designs into manufacturing-ready documentation that supports accurate, efficient
production.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be the kind of person who:
- Convert client-approved engineering drawings into detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
- Modify and update existing, previously-developed drawings to meet new project or client requirements
- Produce separate export files for non-standard plates as part of the drawing package
- Generate CNC router files required for manufacturing output
- Ensure all manufacturing drawings comply with relevant drafting and engineering standards
- Import bills of materials from completed drawings into an ERP system to support inventory management and job ticket generation
- Maintain accuracy and consistency across drawing revisions and documentation
- Organize and manage drawing files in accordance with established drafting and documentation practices
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to clarify drawing requirements and resolve technical queries
Requirements
What You Bring
We’re looking for someone who:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Drafting, Engineering Design, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- 3+ years' experience in mechanical or manufacturing drafting, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Experience in structural steel, fabrication, platforms, switch rooms, frames, beams, or similar industrial structures will be highly regarded.
- Working knowledge of AS1657 and experience generating CNC router files is preferred but not required.
- Exposure to Product Data Management (PDM) systems and familiarity with AS4100 or other structural steel drafting standards will be highly regarded but are not required.
- Familiarity with ERP systems for inventory or job ticket management is an advantage, though training can be provided
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when producing or modifying technical drawings
