The Social Media Manager will develop and execute a consistent content strategy across LinkedIn and Instagram to elevate the company's online presence. This includes creating visual assets, writing engaging copy, and collaborating with directors to align content with business priorities.

This is a remote position.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a creative and proactive Social Media Manager to support a well-established Australian recruitment and HR business with approximately 30 years of industry experience.

The initial focus of the role will be on LinkedIn content management and social media consistency, with some support for Instagram. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing engaging content, maintaining a consistent posting schedule, creating visual assets, and bringing fresh ideas to elevate the company's online presence.

This is an opportunity for someone who can balance a modern, creative approach with the credibility and heritage of an established recruitment business.

Scope of Work:

  • Manage and maintain the company's LinkedIn presence, with some support for Instagram.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent social media content calendar.
  • Create engaging posts around:
    • Recruitment and hiring trends
    • Current job opportunities and "hot roles"
    • Recruitment industry insights
    • Blogs and educational content
    • Company updates, milestones, birthdays, and other relevant events
    • Employer/brand-related content
  • Write engaging captions and supporting copy for social media posts.
  • Design high-quality graphics and visual content.
  • Explore opportunities to incorporate video, motion graphics, and other engaging formats.
  • Schedule posts and maintain a regular publishing cadence.
  • Review existing content and identify opportunities to elevate the quality, creativity, and consistency of the brand's social media presence.
  • Research competitors and industry trends and bring new content ideas to the team.
  • Proactively recommend new approaches, formats, and campaigns rather than relying solely on instructions.
  • Collaborate with the directors through regular check-ins to align content with current business priorities.
  • Potential future scope may include:
    • Posting on individual team members' LinkedIn accounts
    • Community engagement and responding to comments/DMs
    • Marketing collateral
    • Website and broader brand/marketing support
    • Additional HR-related content

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is creative, proactive, confident, and comfortable bringing ideas to the table. They should be able to take direction while also challenging existing approaches and suggesting better ways to present the brand.

A successful candidate will understand how to create content that feels professional but not overly corporate, while helping modernise and strengthen an established brand.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in social media management, particularly LinkedIn.
  • Experience creating content for business-to-business (B2B), recruitment, HR, professional services, or agency environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong copywriting and content creation skills.
  • Strong visual design and an eye for branding.
  • Experience developing and managing social media content calendars.
  • Ability to create engaging and varied content across graphics, written posts, blogs, and ideally video/motion content.
  • Strong understanding of LinkedIn content and engagement best practices.
  • Creative thinker who can independently generate and pitch new ideas.
  • Proactive and comfortable researching competitors and identifying opportunities.
  • Ability to maintain brand consistency while introducing fresh and modern creative concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent posting.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Informal, approachable personality that fits a friendly and collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to balance the company's established heritage with a bold, contemporary approach.

Tools Required:

Current tools:

  • Canva – required/preferred
  • CapCut – preferred for video editing
  • Candidates may use alternative tools where they can demonstrate that they are better suited to the role.
  • AI proficiency is welcome, particularly for candidates who can use AI thoughtfully to support content ideation, copywriting, video creation, or other marketing activities while maintaining quality and authenticity.

Portfolio Requirement:

Candidates must provide a portfolio showcasing previous social media work, with preference given to examples demonstrating:

  • LinkedIn content
  • Instagram content
  • B2B/professional services content
  • Recruitment or agency-related content
  • Creative graphics and branding
  • Video or motion graphics
  • Examples demonstrating consistency and a strong content strategy

VA must also review LinkedIn contents of client competitors such as Who In the Zoo and The Talent Mill

Shortlisted candidates may also be asked to complete a trial task, such as creating 1–2 sample LinkedIn posts and captions based on a provided brief.

Shifts & Hours:

  • Part time: Starting with 10 hours per week maximum; flexible schedule
    • Work does not need to match Australian working hours for day-to-day execution.
    • Availability during Australian business hours is required for approximately one regular weekly check-in.
    • Ideally, there will be one main touchpoint per week, with the possibility of an additional check-in when required.
    • The client will provide updates on priority roles, current business activities, and other timely topics that may need to be incorporated into the content calendar.

Target Start Date: Early October 2026

An early start is preferred to allow for a smooth handover from the client's current part-time marketing support.
