Does not need to be fully in a US time zone. This person will mostly be editing on their own time but have the occasional 30 minute meeting to discuss creative vision, editing notes, etc and must be available once a week for a call on PST but can work the other hours at their own convenience.

About the Client:

The client is a fast-growing "better-for-you" food company specializing in high-quality quesadillas and tortillas. Their products are available through online sales and grocery store distribution. As they continue to expand, they are seeking a skilled E-commerce Creative Specialist. 

About the Role:

Do you know exactly what it takes to stop a user from scrolling past the first 3 seconds? We are looking for a hybrid Short-Form Video Editor to own our visual identity on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. This isn’t just about putting clips together—it’s about crafting compelling stories from raw footage, optimizing content for maximum engagement, and proactively pitching fresh editing styles. From hyper-engaging recipe/educational edits and reviews to polished Canva carousels and thumbnails, you’ll ensure every piece of content we put out is sharp, polished, and on-trend. If you have a passion for social media culture, 1–2 years of experience, and a killer portfolio to prove it, this role is for you. 

The right candidate is creative, curious, has strong attention to detail, strong communication skills, takes initiative, and has a discerning creative eye. 
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Short-Form Video Production: Produce, edit, and optimize engaging 15-to-60-second videos tailored specifically for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube platforms.
  • Narrative & Pacing Development: Synthesize raw b-roll and face-to-camera footage into compelling, cohesive visual narratives. Enhance video retention through strategic pacing, dynamic zooming, and sharp cutting techniques.
  • Audio & Text Enhancement: Integrate accurate closed captions, on-screen text typography, and sound effects (SFX) to optimize videos for silent viewing and high engagement.
  • Thumbnail & Visual Asset Design: Color-correct and design eye-catching thumbnails with text overlays to maximize click-through rates.
  • Social Media Graphic Design: Utilize Canva (or similar tools) to design multi-image carousels, sourcing high-quality stock imagery and extracting video stills to create polished static content.
  • Asset Sourcing & Content Optimization: Source relevant, high-quality, copyright-free stock footage to supplement original b-roll. Audit and aggressively trim existing video assets to maximize impact and brevity (e.g., condensing content down to hyper-engaging 8-to-10-second clips).
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain strict attention to detail to ensure all final deliverables are polished, error-free, and aligned with brand guidelines—including a flawless standard of English grammar and spelling.
  • Creative Collaboration: Actively participate in brainstorming sessions to develop innovative editing styles, concept new content formats, and stay ahead of platform trends.

Qualifications & Skills

The Ideal Candidate

You are a creative and curious video editor with a discerning creative eye and a knack for storytelling. You have strong communication skills, a meticulous attention to detail, and the initiative to brainstorm and execute fresh content ideas independently.

Experience & Requirements

  • Portfolio/Showreel: A strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to edit highly engaging short-form content.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience creating content for social platforms (brand, agency, or personal).

Technical Skills

  • Short-Form Video Editing: Mastery of Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or CapCut to edit sharp, fast-paced videos (15-60s) for TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Basic Graphic Design: Proficiency in Canva (or similar) to create eye-catching social media carousels and thumbnails.
  • Platform Savvy: Deep understanding of social media trends, formats, and how to hook a viewer in the first 3 seconds.

  • Video Editing, Storytelling, & Pacing: Ability to turn raw footage and talking-head clips into a compelling narrative using strategic cuts, zooms, and sound effects.
