The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work
This position is field-based/remote, and delivers mental health training and support for DAC staff specifically in the Western Region of NC.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Range: $63,927.00 - $111,871
The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
Experience with complex trauma, mental health resiliency, and delivery of mental health education and clinical interventions to groups, couples, and individuals.
Understanding of the policies, procedures and funding mechanisms of the state and federal programs that address mental health needs of individuals and families.
Knowledge of mental health ethics and compliance laws, program assessment, resource management, and clinical and program documentation.
Knowledge of best practices, national trends and policy initiatives that support the mental wellbeing of criminal justice professionals.
Skill in the analysis and evaluation of programs, development of training and education, and presentation of programmatic efficacy.

About SHIELD
The S.H.I.E.L.D. section exists to improve the overall health and performance of the correctional workforce by providing confidential, non-emergent support services to DAC staff. These include a combination of behavioral health and peer support initiatives focused on wellness to enhance professional and personal success.
