AI Summary

Write a modern, documentary-style opening episode for 'The Speckled Band' based on the Sherlock and Co characters. The script must be approximately 25 pages and include a hook and a cliffhanger.

About Goalhanger

Task outline:

Sherlock and Co is a modern adaptation of the original Sherlock Holmes stories. Dr. John Watson has put down the stethoscope (and army rifle) and picked up a microphone - to document true-crime adventures with his 221b flatmate; Sherlock Holmes... And of course their business partner Mariana at 221A.

Sherlock and Co is a light entertainment cosy-crime comedy. It's fast paced, curious, warm and of course dark and mysterious when the cases really get going.

Have a listen to get a feel of the show as we have an important case to solve...

The Role

The case:

Can you write - in just 7 days - the opening episode of Sherlock and Co's: The Speckled Band.

This is one of the most well-known and much-loved original Sherlock Holmes stories. Have a read and you'll see how you need to untangle antiquated perspectives, fill technology gaps, update roles/responsibilities/positions in society. You'll need to re-structure that Victorian dialogue into something more modern and hyper-realistic sounding (this is a documentary style after all).

And of course you'll need to insert the Sherlock and Co characters into the shoes of those Victorian gents.

Try and hit around 25 pages. Set the case up. Give us the hook. And hit us with the cliffhanger.

If you can get us on the edge of our seat for more - you could be in with a chance to win an £1,000 prize and a chance to be considered for a role helping to write our narrative scripts at Goalhanger.

The game is afoot.
