Our client is a US-based Personal Injury law firm dedicated to helping individuals navigate accident and injury claims. The firm provides client-focused legal services while managing cases from intake through settlement.

About the role:

They are seeking a detail-oriented Settlement Accountant to manage the firm’s day-to-day accounting and support the financial workflow from settlement through final client disbursement. This role will work closely with the finance, case management, and settlement teams to ensure accurate bookkeeping, lien resolution, settlement documentation, payments, and disbursements.

What you’ll be doing:

Settlement & Disbursement

• Manage files from settlement through final disbursement.

• Prepare closing statements and settlement documents.

• Verify liens, payoffs, referral sources, and client disbursement amounts.

• Prepare and maintain wire templates for payments and disbursements.

• Verify all required case documentation and settlement checks before disbursement.

Lien Files

• Send lien verification requests to lienholders.

• Track and update lien information and remove duplicate entries.

• Identify liens requiring negotiation and follow up with lienholders.

• Obtain final lien payoffs and complete lien resolution before disbursement.

• Maintain accurate payoff documentation and Excel records.

Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date firm bookkeeping records.

• Review incoming invoices and supporting documentation.

• Identify and resolve incorrect or disputed charges.

• Process approved invoices and payments.

• Reconcile bank and operating accounts regularly.

• Track staff expenses and reimbursements.

• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.

Who are we looking for?

• 1–3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial coordination experience.

• Experience with legal settlements, liens, medical payoffs, or personal injury law firms is strongly preferred.

• Strong understanding of financial records, reconciliations, invoices, and disbursements.

• Advanced or strong Excel skills.

• Comfortable working with cloud-based tools and AI-assisted workflows such as Claude.

• Exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy.

• Strong written English and professional communication skills.

• Highly organized with strong follow-up and time-management skills.

• Ability to handle confidential financial and client information.

• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.

• Able to work U.S. business hours and meet consistent deadlines.

Personal Injury law firm experience is preferred.

Experience with Claude or similar AI tools is preferred.

Position: Settlement Accountant

Remote Status: Fully Remote

Preferred Location: Latin America

Working Hours: 9 AM – 5 PM EST

Holidays: U.S. Federal Holidays

Salary: USD $1,000 – $1,400/month
