AI Summary

The SEO Specialist will conduct technical and on-page audits, develop keyword strategies, and create actionable recommendations to improve organic visibility. They will also analyze performance data and optimize content for both traditional search engines and emerging AI-driven search experiences.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced SEO Specialist to support our agency and client accounts on an hourly and/or project basis. This role is best suited for someone with a strong understanding of the technical and on-page sides of SEO who can independently analyze websites, identify opportunities, develop recommendations, and translate SEO findings into actionable strategies.

The ideal candidate understands how websites are structured, how search engines crawl and interpret content, and how on-page and technical factors influence organic visibility. They will also have an understanding of the evolving search landscape, including AI-generated search results, LLMs, AI Overviews, and emerging approaches to optimizing content and websites for AI-driven discovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical & On-Page SEO

    • Conduct technical and on-page SEO audits for client websites.

    • Analyze site architecture, crawlability, indexation, internal linking, redirects, canonicalization, metadata, structured data/schema, page speed/Core Web Vitals, and other technical SEO factors.

    • Review title tags, meta descriptions, headers, URLs, content structure, internal linking, image optimization, and other on-page elements.

    • Identify technical issues and prioritize recommendations based on SEO impact and level of effort.

    • Evaluate website architecture and make recommendations for improving search engine accessibility and user experience.

    • Identify opportunities to improve existing pages rather than relying solely on creating new content.

    • Understand local SEO fundamentals where applicable, including location-based optimization and local search visibility.

  • SEO Research & Strategy

    • Conduct keyword research and develop keyword/topic strategies.

    • Analyze search intent and identify opportunities based on how users are searching.

    • Perform competitive SEO research and identify gaps and opportunities.

    • Analyze SERPs to understand what search engines are rewarding for specific queries.

    • Develop actionable SEO recommendations for websites and individual pages.

    • Stay current with changes to Google and other search engines and their ranking systems.

  • Content Briefs & Recommendations

    • Develop detailed SEO-focused content briefs for writers and clients.

    • Provide recommendations for page topics, keyword targeting, search intent, headings, content structure, internal links, FAQs, and other on-page opportunities.

    • Review existing content and recommend updates, consolidation, expansion, or optimization.

    • Provide guidance on how content can better satisfy search intent and compete in the SERPs.

    • Work with content teams to ensure SEO strategy is incorporated into content development.

  • SEO Reporting & Analysis

    • Create clear, client-friendly SEO reports and audits.

    • Analyze organic traffic, rankings, conversions, visibility, and other relevant SEO performance indicators.

    • Translate data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations rather than simply presenting metrics.

    • Identify trends, opportunities, and potential issues within SEO performance.

    • Be comfortable working with tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics/GA4, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and similar SEO platforms.

  • SEO & LLM / AI Search

    • Understand how search is evolving beyond traditional Google results.

    • Have familiarity with Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and other LLM-driven search/discovery experiences.

    • Understand emerging concepts around Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), AI search visibility, entity optimization, structured content, and content designed to be understood and surfaced by AI systems.

    • Evaluate websites and content for opportunities to improve visibility across both traditional search engines and AI-driven search experiences.

    • Stay informed about changes in how users discover information through search engines and LLMs.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years SEO experience preferred

  • Strong technical and on-page SEO knowledge.

  • Experience with Google Search Console and GA4.

  • Experience with SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, or comparable SEO tools.

  • Understanding of schema/structured data.

  • Understanding of site architecture, crawlability, indexation, and internal linking.

  • Strong keyword research and search intent skills.

  • Experience creating SEO audits and client-facing reports.

  • Experience developing SEO content briefs.

  • Familiarity with local SEO is a plus.

  • Experience with WordPress, Squarespace, Webflow, Shopify, or other common CMS platforms is a plus.

  • Knowledge of AI search, LLM optimization, GEO, and/or AI Overviews is strongly preferred.
