About the role
How people find brands has changed. More and more buying journeys start with a question to ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews / AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot or Claude instead of a list of blue links.
As our AIO Specialist, you will make sure our clients' brands, products and content are found, understood, cited and recommended by AI-powered search and answer engines. You will own the strategy end to end: audit how AI engines see a brand today, define what needs to change across content, technical structure and off-site authority, ship those changes with marketing and engineering teams, and measure the impact.
This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strong SEO fundamentals with a curious, experimental mindset about how LLMs retrieve and synthesize information.
What you will do
- Audit AI visibility: map how often and how accurately a brand appears in AI-generated answers for priority prompts, and benchmark it against competitors.
- Build the AIO/GEO strategy: define the prompt and topic universe, identify content and authority gaps, and turn findings into a prioritized roadmap.
- Optimize content for AI retrieval: restructure and create content that answers questions directly, is easy to extract and quote, and builds topical authority (clear structure, FAQs, comparisons, data, original insights).
- Write paste-ready copy (FAQs, definitions, titles) in the client’s approved product language, and get claims cleared with subject-matter experts and compliance reviewers in regulated markets such as life sciences.
- Strengthen technical foundations: work with developers on crawlability for AI crawlers, structured data (schema.org), entity and knowledge graph signals, site performance, and emerging standards such as llms.txt. Make changes directly in no-code builders such as Framer when faster.
- Grow off-site authority: influence the sources AI engines rely on, such as reviews, directories, Wikipedia/Wikidata, forums, partner content and digital PR.
- Plan industry-specific channels such as LinkedIn, software review sites (PeerSpot, G2) and professional communities.
- Measure and report: track AI share of voice, citations, brand mentions, sentiment and AI-referred traffic and conversions; translate results into clear recommendations for client stakeholders.
- Experiment and share knowledge: run tests, follow changes in AI search products, and help shape 99x’s AIO playbook across clients.
