THE MANDATE 

Be the technical authority in every client engagement. Win the technical sale. Own the integration. Hold the relationship,  from first demo through to a live, expanding deployment, and beyond. Keep clients technically healthy, operationally resilient, and growing. The primary mandate is to win the technical sale and deliver integrations to a live, stable standard. 



ROLE PURPOSE

The Senior Solutions Engineer is a senior technical presence in the client relationship. You own the full lifecycle from the first technical discovery call through proof-of-concept, integration design, live deployment, and ongoing technical account management. You are the reason clients say yes, the reason integrations go live on schedule, and the reason deployments expand.

This role reports to the Head of Customer Success because its primary accountability is ensuring clients realise value throughout their lifecycle, from onboarding and implementation to adoption, retention, and expansion. What you learn in the field shapes how iiDENTIFii sells, supports, and builds.

It demands deep technical credibility in API and SDK-driven environments, sharp commercial instinct, and the communication range to move between a client's security architect and their CFO in the same meeting. Experience in biometric identity, KYC, fintech, or highly regulated B2B technology environments is a strong advantage. 



WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Pre-Sales Technical Leadership

  • Own the pre-sales technical outcome end-to-end. From the first technical call, through solution design, proof-of-concept execution, and finally, technical sign-off
  • Enable enterprise prospects to leave every engagement technically convinced - integration fit is clear, compliance concerns are resolved, and the path to contract is defined
  • Scope and align PoCs to answer the right question - executed to a standard that accelerates purchase decisions 
  • Ensure learnings are fed back to internal teams that iiDENTIFii's technical differentiation is sharp, well-articulated, and consistently credible against the competition
  • Leveraging AI tools, ensure RFPs, RFIs, and security questionnaires are answered with the precision and commercial awareness that move deals forward

Solution Design & Integration Architecture

  • Ensure integration proposals are technically credible before a contract is signed. 
  • Ensure proposed solutions are validated as feasible and commercially deliverable within deal timelines, with integration risks identified and mitigated early
  • Lead the handoff from pre-sales to implementation,  carrying full context, and ensure client confidence is not disrupted by a transition

Technical Delivery & Client Onboarding

  • Be the authority on integrating all our product SDKs, APIs and solutions.
  • Leverage AI tools to mimic integration environments and challenge our product and engineering assets to create a continuous competitive advantage by streamlining the ease of integrating with our products
  • Innovate and upgrade our demos, integration documentation, and approach by finding the path of least resistance to integrate with our product
  • Ensure new clients go live on schedule and to a standard that sets up expansion, not remediation
  • Proactively manage platform performance risks in every live deployment, ensuring awareness relating to, for example, throughput requirements are surfaced internally before they become a production issue
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to create a consistent technical feedback loop that ensures learnings from integration, experimentation, and observation become improvements across the board

Client Technical Relationships & Account Health

  • Proactively manage the technical health of strategic accounts post-deployment, ensuring technical account health is actively driven rather than passively monitored 
  • Be a  trusted senior advisor for client technical leads, architects, engineers, and security teams 
  • Support clients through product changes, new features, and regulatory shifts, ensuring disruptions are anticipated and managed

Commercial & Strategic Intelligence

  • Translate field intelligence into actionable insights for the commercial team and product leadership, ensuring win/loss patterns shape sales strategy and client and market feedback informs the product roadmap
  • Own the tracking, reporting, and interpretation of pipeline metrics, including PoC conversion rates, time-to-technical-win, and deal support coverage
  • Act as a trusted senior technical ambassador for iiDENTIFii when partnering with the Head of Enteprise Sales or Senior Client Manager.



WHERE YOU PARTNER (not owned by this role) 

These areas require meaningful technical input from this role, but they are shared mandates - not sole ownership.

  • Head of Enterprise Sales commercial lead on all enterprise deals; you own the technical outcome that makes the deal possible
  • Senior Client Manager - owns commercial client relationship post-sale; you provide the technical health picture that makes renewals and expansion defensible. 
  • Technical collateral and documentation - you’re a primary contributor; publication and maintenance shared with Product and Marketing
  • Developer-facing documentation and API guides - shaped jointly with Product and Engineering Teams
  • Product roadmap input - the customer field intelligence this role generates is among the most valuable inputs the product team receives; structured and shared, not ad hoc 



WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 

Core

  • 6 - 8+ years in solutions engineering, pre-sales technical consulting, or technical implementation in enterprise B2B technology
  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. An Honours degree or relevant undergraduate degree is advantageous; equivalent practical experience in a technically complex enterprise B2B environment will be considered where a formal qualification is not held 
  • Real ownership of both the pre-sales and post-sales technical relationship - not just demos, but live deployments and the client relationship that spans them
  • Proven track record of building trusted technical relationships with enterprise clients at the architect and C-suite level
  • Background in at least one of: biometric identity, KYC/AML, fintech/regtech, cybersecurity, identity & access management, or enterprise SaaS
  • Experience in regulated industries - financial services, telecoms, or government - is a strong advantage

Technical Skills

  • Deep fluency in API and SDK-driven integration environments - able to design, troubleshoot, and deliver across REST APIs, mobile SDKs (iOS and Android), and web delivery without hand-holding
  • Strong enough across cloud, observability, and data tooling to diagnose live client issues independently - able to follow a request across services and reason about failure modes
  • Data and scripting capability sufficient to answer client questions about session outcomes, throughput, and error patterns without engineering dependency
  • Code-literate across the relevant stack to support client integration teams effectively 
  • Sound working knowledge of enterprise security and privacy requirements - POPIA, GDPR, FICA, ISO 27001 - and how they shape integration design in regulated environments
  • Exceeding  in using AI tooling to accelerate pre-sales content, troubleshooting, product demo apps, and documentation, and able to articulate its value credibly in client conversations
