Senior Software Engineer (Senior Consultant, Engineering & Technical Services)
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer as part of our Senior Consultant, Engineering & Technical Services career path to support federal student aid modernization efforts. This role focuses on building and integrating the enterprise engineering platform that powers the customer’s technology ecosystem, enabling thousands of developers to deliver modern cloud-native applications through standardized tooling, automation, and seamless integrations across GitLab, Jira, Datadog, Databricks, and Figma. Rather than building end-user applications, this position creates the shared platform capabilities that improve developer productivity and standardize software delivery across the organization's modernization initiatives. This is a fully remote role.
At Fearless, this Senior Consultant collaborates with cross functional teams to align the technical vision, implementation, and quality of software systems across development, reliability, testing, and operations. This role will possess the skills to be able to bridge business objectives with technical execution in software development, infrastructure, security, and testing at an advanced application level of proficiency. The Sr. Consultant role will work on projects that allow them to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable solutions while mentoring engineers, fostering collaboration, and aligning stakeholders with product and project goals.
Fearless Your Responsibilities in this Role:
● Design, develop, and maintain API-based integrations between enterprise SaaS platforms to create a cohesive engineering ecosystem.
● Build custom integrations and APIs that connect GitLab, Jira, Confluence, Slack, Datadog, Databricks, and Figma into a unified engineering toolchain.
● Build and enhance platform services that enable engineering teams to efficiently develop and deploy cloud-native applications.
● Develop secure, scalable, and maintainable APIs, microservices, and integration components that power the enterprise engineering platform.
● Collaborate with platform engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver integration capabilities aligned to modernization goals.
● Implement automation and reusable services that standardize CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices across development teams.
● Ensure integrations meet federal security standards, reliability targets, and performance requirements for high-volume production environments.
● Troubleshoot integration issues, identify root causes, and continuously improve platform capabilities based on user feedback and operational metrics.
● Participate in Agile planning, backlog refinement, code reviews, and sprint activities to maintain delivery momentum and code quality.
