We are looking for an experienced Backend Software Engineer to join our team and help us revolutionize the way people move around our cities. As a key member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to design and build the core technology that powers our fleet of connected vehicles. We are looking for engineers who thoughtfully integrate modern AI tools into their work: using them to raise quality, solve problems and move faster while maintaining strong engineering judgment and ownership. With our rapid global expansion, you’ll play a vital role in crafting backend systems that are core to the Lime offering including location and asset data analysis, and experimentation. You will also have the chance to contribute to our internal messaging platform. And the best part? This is a remote position with a requirement for candidates residing in Canada to maintain effective collaboration across teams.
What you’ll do:
Identify, define, and solve strategically essential technical problems, including architecting and building highly scalable foundational platforms and revamping existing core application experiences.
Scrutinize and reason clearly about the technology and architecture we make.
Building scalable, efficient, and stable software to power our electric vehicles and related features.
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code by thoughtfully leveraging AI-assisted development workflows to improve quality and efficiency while maintaining high standards for validation, security, and ownership.
Advise Lime’s leadership team on key technology adoption and process improvements.
Contribute to shaping the overall engineering culture at the company.
Participate in a shared on-call rotation to support production systems and services.
Respond to and troubleshoot production issues, outages, and critical alerts during assigned on-call shifts.
Escalate incidents as needed and collaborate with team members to restore service.
Document issues and contribute to improvements that reduce recurring incidents.
Be available to provide occasional after-hours, weekend, and holiday support while on call.
About you:
5+ years of industry professional software development experience and a track record of building impactful products or systems.
Skilled at writing logical and maintainable code, and providing clear feedback in code reviews.

Ability to participate in a shared on-call rotation supporting production systems, including occasional after-hours, weekend, and holiday coverage, with responsibility for responding to critical alerts, coordinating escalations to restore service, and documenting issues to help prevent recurrence.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools to support coding, debugging, testing, documentation, technical exploration, and analysis.
Ability to validate AI-assisted outputs, identifying risks and failure modes, protecting sensitive information, and knowing when deeper manual review is required.
Preferred Experience:
Experience building and maintaining scalable data ingestion pipelines
Experience with engineers as customers, ensuring efficient use of internal systems
Experience with Ruby or Go
The salary range listed reflects what Lime reasonably expects to offer for this role, with the final base salary determined by factors such as the candidate’s location and relevant skills and experience. Depending on the position, the total compensation package may also include discretionary annual performance bonus opportunities and equity, subject to applicable plan terms and eligibility requirements.
