Key Job Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy backend services and features using Ruby on Rails, owning well-scoped work end-to-end.
Design and architect scalable systems and databases to support growing user demands.
Collaborate with product managers, front-end engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and turn them into working, tested code.
Implement features and enhancements for our core platform with attention to performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Harness AI effectively by leveraging and extending the tooling that speeds up backend delivery.
Participate in code reviews, give and receive constructive feedback.
Be a mentor to your peers.
Build and expand automated test coverage, and help keep our CI/CD pipelines healthy.
Troubleshoot and debug production issues, escalating and partnering with the team when needed to keep our backend systems stable.
Own and contribute to integrations with pharmaceutical partners, hubs, and pharmacies.
What Characteristics Are We Looking For?
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical work experience.
5+ years of experience in backend software development.
Proficiency in Ruby and the Ruby on Rails framework.
Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL), including schema design and writing efficient queries.
Experience designing and consuming JSON APIs.
Experience with backend testing frameworks and familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Experience building background jobs with Redis and Sidekiq.
