The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for managing the development and maintenance of all Scale to Win products and software, operating at high scale and intensity. This role builds and develops new features and products while ensuring the continued functionality and integrity of all existing systems.
This role requires a focus on quality, usefulness, and reliability in every tool we provide. By maintaining our existing product suite and strategically building for the future, the Senior Software Engineer ensures our offerings consistently meet client needs, align with Scale to Win's business objectives, and enhance overall customer lifetime value.
Develop front-end and back-end functionality using TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS
Build reliable, scalable services and user-facing features from ambiguous requirements to production.
Write clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code that adheres to engineering standards.
Contribute to system design, technical architecture, and long-term infrastructure planning.
Improve platform reliability, performance, and security across the entire technology stack.
Maintain high quality standards through automated testing, peer code reviews, and documentation.
Work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver end-to-end customer features.
Participate actively in sprint planning, task estimation, and release deployment processes.
Communicate technical concepts clearly, provide constructive feedback, and mentor team members.
Participate in the on-call rotation as a primary responder for triaging off-hours incidents.
Respond to production outages, participate in post-incident debriefs, and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
Support cross-functional client technical requests and explain complex system resolutions in plain language.
You have at least 8 years of professional software engineering experience and a proven track record of leading multi-sprint projects from requirements to shipped products.
You design and operate distributed systems at scale capable of handling unexpected traffic spikes using resiliency patterns such as rate limiting, retries, queuing, backpressure, and graceful degradation.
You bring experience with—or a solid understanding of—our primary stack (JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node, PostgreSQL, and AWS managed with Terraform), alongside key web scaling disciplines like software testing, release management, cloud infrastructure, and/or DevOps.
You have experience integrating third-party services and gracefully handling service failures (carrier or telephony experience is a plus).
You write clean, readable, and maintainable code, prioritize quality to prevent production errors, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
You are comfortable leading incident response to prevent recurrence, participating in a night/weekend on-call rotation, and working extra evenings or weekends during peak election seasons and high client volumes.
$200,000 yearly salary (base). As part of our commitment to equity, salaries are non-negotiable.
This role may be eligible for a discretionary bonus as determined by the company in its sole discretion.

This role may require occasional travel to support client meetings, campaign events, trainings, or company gatherings. Travel expectations will vary based on client needs and campaign cycles, particularly during peak election seasons.
