About the Role

This is a 12-month fixed-term position covering a parental leave on our development team, starting in November 2026.

Come join us! We’re a small, collaborative team building Elastic Path Composable Commerce, an API-first ecommerce platform used by enterprise brands across the world.  In this remote role, you’ll own frontend features from design conversations all the way through to release and follow-ups, working with a tight-knit team to creatively plan, build, and iterate on novel client solutions.

The team is experienced, close-knit, and welcoming, with backend and frontend engineers, QA, product, and design all working together daily. As a frontend engineer, you'll collaborate across disciplines to keep our interfaces reliable and usable, while helping our clients succeed.

We release continuously and debate designs openly and constructively. We care about the craft of building software and about the people we build it with.

Location

This is a remote role based in Canada - candidates are required to have valid work authorization and be located in Canada to be considered. We have a preference for those located in the Eastern time zone, as this alignment enables strong coverage and responsive support for our customers across the U.S., Canada, and the UK, while also ensuring meaningful overlap and collaboration with our distributed teams. What You’ll Do

• Design, build, test, and ship frontend features, working closely with designers and backend engineers to own delivery through release and follow-up.

• Translate designs (for example, Figma) into accessible, responsible, maintainable UI, while also thinking beyond exact mockups to consider edge cases, errors, loading states, client experiences, and inconsistencies.

• Write tests at the right layers and debug systematically across systems and services.

• Seek and utilize observability and operational information to make data-driven decisions, proposing and delivering stability, performance, and UX improvements.

• Review code with an eye for patterns, maintainability, and security.

• Plan work for incremental delivery, making sound decisions despite sometimes not yet having the full picture.

• Share knowledge, including documentation, demos, and active participation in designs.
• Ship code continuously through our delivery pipeline, with proper review, testing, and documentation.

What You Bring

• Around five-plus years building software on cross-functional teams. To these ends, years are a proxy for “can solve technical problems with a team”, rather than a hard threshold.
• Strong React and TypeScript skills with sound judgment when determining state management, component structures, data fetching, and reuse.
• Solid experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, browser behaviour, HTTP interactions, and responsive designs.
• Experience consuming and building on top of REST APIs, including experience with authentication, error handling, caching, and API contracts.
• Demonstrated effective testing with testing libraries or similar.
• Productive use of AI tools to explore, implement, and debug, while maintaining understanding and validation of results.
• You can debug effectively across the browser, network, and backing services, and you're comfortable digging into unfamiliar systems to find root causes.
• You think about how your code fits into the broader architecture, how changes affect other teams, and how to balance speed with quality.
• Nice-to-haves: ecommerce or B2B product experience, design systems background, backend or API development exposure.

Salary Range

At Elastic Path, we are on a mission to provide pay transparency and share information freely and openly whenever possible. 

The base salary for this position is listed to support candidates in aligning themselves within the target salary range for the role. Our salary ranges are country-specific and are based on national market data.
