The Role 

People Operations at Berlitz is being redesigned from the ground up- and you'll be a central part of that. As our Senior People Operations Specialist for Germany, you will own everything that makes the employee lifecycle in Germany work: payroll, benefits, compliance, onboarding, offboarding, and everything in between. 


But this role goes beyond operational excellence. You will be a key contributor to building a scalable, global People Operations model- one that leverages AI, automation and modern tooling to deliver more for our employees with less friction. If you are

What You Will Be Doing 

  • Own the full employee lifecycle in Germany - from seamless onboarding to smooth offboarding - ensuring every experience is high-quality and consistent 
  • Manage payroll, benefits and core HR operations for Germany with precision and reliability 
  • Ensure full compliance with German employment law and stay ahead of regulatory changes Help redefine how People Ops works by leveraging AI, automation and modern tooling to drive efficiency and better decision-making 
  • Act as the go-to expert for employees and managers on all Germany-specific HR matters 
  • Establish strong data foundations- ensuring accuracy, accessibility and actionable insight across all people data 
  • Be part of the implementation of our new global HRIS tool and contribute to other global People projects 

 

What We Are Looking For  

  • 5-7 years of experience in HR/People Operations in Germany, with deep knowledge of the German employment landscape A builder mentality- you are excited about creating structure where none exists and don't wait to be told what to do Curiosity about and experience with AI tools and automation in an HR context 
  • Fluent in German and English 
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms; bonus points if you have been part of an implementation or migration  
  • Strong understanding of German payroll, benefits and employment law frameworks
