Senior IT Systems Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior IT Systems Engineer to design, build, and improve the internal systems that support our growing business.

Working alongside our Staff Systems Engineer, you’ll own automation, integrations, and enterprise platform improvements that make our environment more secure, reliable, and scalable. You’ll partner with IT Operations to turn recurring support issues into durable solutions and work with Security and Internal Automation to help employees build and use technology safely.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on improving systems and processes, rather than primarily managing day-to-day support tickets or office technology. You’ll work across a broad technology environment, make thoughtful technical decisions, and take projects from discovery through implementation and operational handoff.

You’ll report to our Boston-based IT Manager.

This is a US-based role, with a preference for candidates in the Eastern Time Zone to support close collaboration with our Boston-based IT Manager and Staff Systems Engineer. Boston-area candidates would also have opportunities to collaborate in person. Working arrangements will be discussed during the interview process.

What you’ll be doing

• Own the administration and improvement of enterprise platforms, including Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, AWS, and other core IT systems. Review configurations, access, and capabilities to improve security and usability.
• Design, build, test, document, and maintain automated workflows and integrations that reduce manual work and enable reliable employee self-service.
• Partner with IT Operations to investigate complex escalations, identify root causes, and replace recurring issues with scalable technical or process improvements.
• Lead systems engineering projects from requirements gathering through rollout, monitoring, and operational handoff, balancing business needs, security, reliability, and maintenance effort.
• Work with Security, Internal Automation, business stakeholders, and vendors to support secure use of enterprise technology and internal building in Tines.
• Contribute to systems, processes, and documentation that support future Federal environment requirements as the program develops.

What you bring with you

• Eight or more years of relevant IT systems engineering experience, or equivalent experience demonstrating senior-level technical ownership.
• Strong hands-on administration and engineering experience across multiple enterprise platforms, such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Jira, AWS, identity providers, or endpoint management systems.
• Experience personally building and maintaining automated workflows, integrations, or self-service solutions, using APIs, scripting, or automation platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, including using logs and command-line tools to investigate complex issues, identify root causes, and implement durable improvements.
• Sound judgment around access controls, data security, testing, change management, and rollback, with an understanding of build-versus-buy trade-offs and ongoing maintenance.
• Experience independently delivering technical projects, managing competing priorities, and communicating clearly with engineers, operational teams, and business stakeholders.

Experience that will help you succeed
Previous experience with Tines, GCP, regulated environments, CMMC, FedRAMP, or Microsoft 365 GCC High is helpful but not required. Experience supporting secure enterprise AI adoption or preparing systems documentation for compliance requirements is also valuable.

Target Annual Compensation: Base salary of up to $145,000 + equity
