Senior Systems Engineer

As our senior systems Engineer, you will be involved with designing, developing, analyzing, testing, and debugging on prem and cloud-native applications.  To be most successful you will have an innate ability to design and implement on prem cloud solutions based on customer requirements with multiple engineering disciplines.

Additionally, your strong understanding of database design and management, streaming data, microservice architectures, and automated testing will be an advantage in this position.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, develop, analyze, document, and support testing of products, systems/subsystems
• Motivated individual with a positive attitude and an ability to complete a technical project independently as well as mentor and coach other engineers
• Communicate clearly (written and oral) with program management, engineering, and the customer as required
• Manage and monitor all infrastructure and system deployments which includes all configurations, testing, and maintenance as required.
• Identify potential issues and implement solutions proactively.
• Use expert-level administration and optimization of servers to ensure high degree of availability and appropriate resource management. 
• Create, update, and maintain documentation of the environment and operational procedures.
• Install and configure operating systems, software, and hardware components as needed to maintain the infrastructure as well as documenting its design, maintenance, and support procedures. 
• Develop and maintain cloud-based solutions in accordance with best practices.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues. 
• Perform troubleshooting analysis to evaluate applications, network, server, or workstation issues and provide a suitable solution.
• Responsible for proactively managing the infrastructure by analyzing and correcting issues as identified, and regularly reporting metrics and issues to management as needed.
• Place and escalate vendor service calls when necessary to resolve hardware or software issues. 
• Create technical requirements and specifications for procurement. 

Qualifications & Experience

• 10+ years of experience

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Education or knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in troubleshooting and support.
• Understanding of principles, methods, and techniques used in all phases of installation, administration and maintenance of IT and business systems and Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS) applications.
• Experience with selection, planning and implementation for new IT and business systems.
• Expertise and/or certification is preferred for relevant systems.
• Security + - Network + - ITIL – Microsoft Azure – VMware - AWS
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to successfully interact with all levels of management, IT professionals and end-users.
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
• Advance expertise in VMware
• Intermediate expertise in SQL Server
• Intermediate expertise in Azure / AWS
• OS and application Patching
• Advance expertise in Windows Administration (AD, DNS, SCCM, GPO, DHCP, CA)
• Knowledge of SEIM and SEM
• Basic knowledge of OSI layer, networking protocols
• PowerShell / MS Graph / Azure CLI
• System and File level Backups
• SharePoint On-prem and Online

Desired Experience (with one or more)

• Secret clearance, or willingness to obtain a secret clearance
• Exposure and understanding of Network Management Systems, such as ScienceLogic SL1
• Experience with streaming data or message queueing
• Experience in the Satcom industry
• Experience working on Federal Government and DoD contracts

Ability to design & deliver solutions to the cloud, hybrid, or on-premises infrastructure as needed by the project
