Job Description:

Abercrombie & Fitch is searching for a Senior Developer for their Supply Chain Integrations team. This role is responsible for designing, building, enhancing, and supporting integration solutions across the supply chain domain, with a strong emphasis on Kafka-based event streaming, microservices, APIs, and warehouse integration patterns. The developer will work closely with internal supply chain technology teams, third-party warehousing partners, operations teams, and support partners to ensure reliable data flow between host systems, warehouse management systems, transportation platforms, and downstream consumers.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a hands-on integration developer with strong experience in Apache Kafka, Java/Spring Boot, cloud-native development, Azure technologies, observability tooling, and production support. This person should be comfortable working across both project delivery and operational support responsibilities, including Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 support scenarios, root-cause analysis, incident response, defect remediation, and continuous improvement of integration reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support Kafka-based integrations and event-driven solutions across the supply chain and third-party warehousing landscape.

  • Build and maintain scalable APIs, microservices, event streams, and integration components that connect internal host systems with external logistics, warehouse, and fulfillment partners.

  • Partner with supply chain, warehouse operations, application teams, and vendor partners to understand business requirements and translate them into reliable technical solutions.

  • Support the modernization of integration platforms by applying cloud-native design patterns, CI/CD automation, container-based deployment practices, and secure API/event-stream development standards.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize integrations using observability tools such as Dynatrace, application logs, Kafka monitoring, and cloud platform telemetry.

  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, reducing manual support effort, improving alert quality, and documenting support procedures and technical runbooks.

  • Review technical deliverables, promote development standards, mentor other developers, and contribute to best practices for integration design, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support.

  • Explore and apply AI-enabled tooling where appropriate to improve developer productivity, operational visibility, testing efficiency, documentation, and support response quality.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise integrations, APIs, microservices, or event-driven platforms.

  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, topics, schemas, event-stream design, message replay/reprocessing concepts, and troubleshooting event flow issues.

  • Strong Java development experience, preferably with Java 8 or later, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and modern backend development patterns.

  • Experience working in supply chain, logistics, fulfillment, retail, warehouse management, or third-party warehousing environments.

  • Experience integrating with warehouse management systems, transportation systems, order management systems, inventory systems, or external 3PL/warehouse partner platforms.

  • Experience with Azure cloud services, cloud-native application patterns, containerized workloads, CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, Kubernetes, or similar modern deployment ecosystems.

  • Experience using Dynatrace or comparable observability tools for monitoring, troubleshooting, performance analysis, alert review, and production support.

  • Strong understanding of integration patterns, asynchronous messaging, event-driven architecture, API lifecycle management, error handling, retry patterns, and data validation.

  • Experience providing Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 application or integration support, including incident triage, root-cause analysis, production fixes, and support documentation.

  • Ability to work in Agile delivery environments and collaborate with cross-functional technical and business teams.

  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, communication, and technical documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Supply Chain Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience with IBM MQ, Oracle ESB, SOA, Apigee, GraphQL, Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, XML, JSON, Avro, or other integration and data exchange technologies.

  • Experience with WMS platforms, retail supply chain systems, 3PL integrations, EDI/event-based warehouse messaging, inventory movement, shipment confirmation, order fulfillment, or distribution center operations.

  • Experience implementing or supporting AI-enabled development, testing, monitoring, documentation, or operational support tooling.

  • Experience mentoring developers, reviewing technical designs, establishing support standards, and improving operational readiness for production systems.
