About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior Drupal Developer (5+ years of experience) to lead the architecture, development, and modernization of our enterprise-level CMS systems. In this role, you will be the technical anchor for our Drupal ecosystem, managing custom module development, improving our content publishing workflow, and helping set our Drupal development roadmap.
As a key contributor in our development team, you will assist teammates with integrations and UI projects that leverage the projects you lead. You will work closely with cross-functional teammates to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing digital experiences, mentoring junior team members along the way.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Development: Design, build and enhance our enterprise Drupal implementations (Drupal 11+), creating custom modules, themes, and API integrations.
- Database & Data Management: Architect robust database schemas, write high-performance queries, and execute on complex data migrations, disaster recovery plans, and system integrations.
- Security & Performance: Conduct security reviews, optimize application performance (caching, query optimization), and ensure high availability by design.
- Technical Leadership: Lead technical decision-making, establish coding standards, perform thorough code reviews, and mentor mid-level/junior developers
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of professional backend web development, with at least 4 years dedicated specifically to Drupal.
- Drupal Expertise: Deep understanding of Drupal core, custom module development, the Form API, Twig templating, Drush, and the Drupal community module ecosystem.
- Front-end Familiarity: Ability to work with front-end technologies and teams to integrate CMS project delivery with additional systems
- Backend & Databases: Strong proficiency in PHP, object-oriented programming (OOP), and advanced database design/management (MySQL/MariaDB and/or PostgreSQL).
- APIs & Integration: Extensive experience building and consuming RESTful/GraphQL APIs.
- DevOps & Workflow: Experience with Composer, Git workflow, Continuous Integration & Delivery, and local development environments (e.g., DDEV, Lando, and Docker).
- Leadership & Mentorship: A natural ability to collaborate with team members - guiding, supporting, and elevating team skills and maintaining a cooperative team spirit.
- Analytical Thinking: Exceptional debugging and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex architectural bottlenecks.
- Clear Communication: The ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and concisely.
Distinct Assets (Nice-to-Haves)
- Strong experience managing hosting, caching, and routing via Cloudflare (Workers, KV, WAF).
- Cloud infrastructure experience, specifically deploying and managing applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Acquia or Drupal Association certifications.
- Understanding of Cloud Hosting platform patterns (Kubernetes, Serverless Functions, etc)
