Contacx designs and delivers contact centre solutions on Amazon Connect, bringing AWS-integrated AI to some of the region's most customer-focused businesses. They work closely with AWS and many of their projects come straight from that partnership. The team works across Melbourne, Perth and the Philippines, in small, focused delivery squads.

Contacx is now expanding into New Zealand, where demand for a dependable local delivery partner is growing fast. It's an early-stage build inside an established, scaling business.

The Role

As a Senior CX Engineer, you will lead the architecture, design, and deployment of cloud-native customer experience solutions built on Amazon Connect and the AWS ecosystem. You will bridge complex client business requirements with high-performance engineering execution, driving technical excellence across WebRTC, real-time communications, serverless integrations, and AI-driven CX workflows.

As our most senior role in NZ, you will be on a path to becoming our first NZ squad leader, a remit that will oversee all our NZ clients, sit on our ANZ senior leadership team, and contribute to our company strategy and operational optimisation.

What You'll Do

Solution Architecture & Development

• Design, build, and optimize scalable CX solutions using Amazon Connect, WebRTC, SIP, and core AWS technologies.

• Architect and implement complex server-side APIs, microservices, and automated workflows using TypeScript and modern languages.

• Drive front-end and web technology integrations to develop seamless, multi-channel customer engagement tools.

Client Solutioning & Technical Leadership

• Collaborate directly with client stakeholders to elicit complex requirements and translate them into robust, enterprise-grade CX architectures.

• Act as a senior technical escalation point and expert, diagnosing and resolving complex networking and telephony components (TCP/IP routing, NAT, DNS, SIP).

• Establish engineering standards, code review practices, and continuous delivery pipelines within an agile environment.

AI & Innovation Integration

• Stay at the forefront of emerging CX technologies, implementing AI-powered interactions, generative AI solutions, and advanced automation.

• Explore and implement modern execution environments and systems languages such as Rust where performance demands require.

What You'll Bring

• Experience: Senior-level experience in software development or cloud engineering, with demonstrated full-stack development skills, experience with real-time communications, or CCaaS deployments.

• Technical Proficiency: Advanced expertise in TypeScript, JavaScript, web technologies, and REST API development (e.g. Python, Golang).

• Networking & Telephony: In-depth understanding of enterprise networking (TCP, IP routing, NAT, DNS) and real-time media protocols (SIP, WebRTC).

• Cloud & Domain Knowledge: Deep hands-on experience with Amazon Connect and core AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, Lex, Amazon Bedrock).

• Qualifications: Tertiary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Relevant AWS certifications are highly regarded.
