About you

Colliers Global Occupier Services is looking for an experienced Senior Cost Estimator for a large, multinational industrial and office Client of ours. This role will work within our Enterprise Project Management service line. You will be a subject matter expert dedicated to the account to provide ongoing support to our project managers and real estate team.
 

In this role, you will…

  • Develop, implement, and maintain processes for effective cost management procedures

  • As a member of our central Real Estate team overseeing all internal construction activities of Client worldwide, you guide and support as Cost Estimator and assist the Project Managers (PM) in defining realistic budgets for construction projects based on specific project requirements, the applied procurement strategy and contract type, regional building codes and actual market situations

  • Identify significant cost risks and development of mitigation measures in close collaboration with the project teams.

  • Provide cost estimates in various stages of the project life cycle from preliminary to detailed level.

  • During execution of the projects, you evaluate the effectiveness of cost control measures by the project team and review cost forecasts and cost reports to safeguard budget and cash-out plan adherence.

  • Leverage expertise in cost and time effective construction methods experience to enable the project manager to deliver the projects on time and within budget.

  • When cost optimizations are required, you support the PM in Value Engineering, price, and claim negotiations with the General Contractor.

  • Close collaboration with the Project Manager is key for the overall project success and delivering on Client’s growth targets.

What success looks like

  • Bachelor's degree required; concentration in construction management, engineering or a related discipline

  • 10+ years of experience in Cost Estimating and Management (pre-contract and post-contract) required

  • Special knowledge in typical cost benchmarks for industrial buildings (manufacturing, testing, R&D facilities, warehouses, offices) and relevant cost influencing factors.

  • Ability to critically review and challenge presented cost plans for quality and accuracy before management approval.

  • Profound understanding of most applicable contract types (examples, pre-construction project-partnering, Design-Bid-Build to Design & Build and Open Book/cost plus fees, BTS-Lease) to consult our project teams on contract management topics.

  • Must have international experience working on industrial construction projects

  • Good Command of MS Office-applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Experience of digital design methods like BIM and work in cost databases

  • Structured, organized way of working – we look for self-starters at work.

  • Special skills in applications such as RIB iTwo or CostX or similar tools are required.

Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes an employer match. Employees will also receive 10 days of sick leave and a minimum of 15-days vacation annually.  Certain senior-level roles are eligible for unlimited time off.  Employees will also enjoy 10 paid holidays plus two personal flex days throughout the calendar year. Twelve weeks (for birth parents) and 4 weeks (for non-birth parents, including adoptive/foster parents) of paid parental leave will also be available for use after successful completion of 90 days of employment. Individuals may be eligible for different or additional benefits under applicable state law.

Bonus
This position is eligible for an annual bonus, based on company and individual performance.

For Salary Roles 

Approximate Salary Range for Role: $148,762 to $160,000

Area/Location Specific: WFH USA

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
