Job purpose  

The Senior Corporate Accountant plays a key role in supporting BELAY's corporate accounting operations by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting and month-end close activities. This role is responsible for general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable processes while partnering closely with the Controller on financial reporting, audits, and process improvements.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset and a commitment to delivering accurate financial information that supports sound business decisions.

Essential Functions 

As a BELAY Corporate Team member, you will professionally represent the company in all virtual and in-person interactions. You are expected to exemplify our mission, vision, and core values while fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.

Corporate Accounting

  • Prepare and record journal entries, including payroll, accruals, prepaids, and other month-end adjustments.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure supporting documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Review general ledger activity to ensure expenses are recorded appropriately and in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare weekly income reports for leadership review.
  • Release approved accounts payable payments on a weekly basis.
  • Support accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, including reconciliation of Wingspan invoicing and payments.
  • Distribute and maintain monthly financial reports and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Serve as backup support for the Corporate Accountant as needed.
  • Partner with the Controller on special projects, financial analyses, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen internal controls.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger accounting and month-end close responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential financial information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to quickly learn new financial systems and technology.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a remote team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting audits and financial compliance activities.
  • Experience with ERP or cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Experience working in a remote or distributed organization.

Working Conditions

BELAY is a remote-first organization. This role requires a dedicated home office, regular use of virtual collaboration tools, and a work schedule that aligns with business needs and BELAY's core collaboration hours. Occasional travel or flexibility outside standard business hours may be required based on the role.

Location requirements

This role is remote within the U.S. However, due to employment and tax compliance considerations, we are currently unable to hire employees in the following states: California, New York, Illinois, Oregon.
