Zip is hiring a Senior Commercial Counsel to serve as a core legal partner to its Sales, Product, and cross-functional teams. This role sits at the intersection of revenue generation and product innovation—leading complex commercial negotiations while ensuring compliance within a regulated fintech environment.

In this role, you will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements across the payments and financial services ecosystem, including merchant, partner, marketing, and vendor contracts. You will act as a strategic advisor to Sales, shaping deal structure and negotiation strategy while balancing legal risk with customer experience and business outcomes.

You will also work closely with Product, Engineering, Risk, and Compliance teams to guide the development and launch of financial products, translating regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance. This includes advising on consumer financial services, payments frameworks, and emerging regulatory considerations that impact product design and go-to-market strategy.

Beyond individual transactions, you will contribute to scaling the legal function—developing templates, playbooks, and negotiation frameworks, and leveraging AI-enabled tools and contract lifecycle systems to improve speed, consistency, and efficiency across a high volume of deals.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in commercial contracting within fintech or regulated environments, strong transactional judgment, and the ability to operate independently while influencing stakeholders across functions.
