Plans, manages, directs, and control workers' compensation (WC) claims programs and the administration of workers' compensation and related, statutorily derivative liability claims, and litigation asserted against or by the Company. Essential Functions

  • Responsibilities include staffing, training, and oversight of WC team.
  • Manages WC third-party claim administrator’s performance using audits and data analysis.
  • Manages State Regulatory Compliance issues involving WC, including self-insurance renewals, assessments, and bond requirements; reviews and approves state filings.
  • Evaluates and approves WC claim settlements and claim file reserves above authorized levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree/equivalent.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years related experience with WC and other related casualty claims and litigation of significant exposure and complexity involving serious injuries on a regional or national.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of WC, contract, tort, damages, agency, subrogation, contribution/indemnity, and other applicable/related law. Comprehensive knowledge of self-insurance and insurance policy provisions, practices, laws, and regulations.

Ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations, determine appropriate courses of action, present solutions, and resolve claims within multi-million-dollar retentions.

Excellent leadership, management, human relations, oral and written communication, analytical, problem solving, negotiation, vendor selection, contracting, and management, and organizational skills. Strong knowledge of RMIS and statistical claims data and reporting. Proficient in MS office.


Preferred Qualifications: The Central Region Workers’ Compensation Manager maintains operational stability, protects claim outcomes, and mitigates avoidable risk to the organization. The Central Region’s size, complexity, and vendor dependencies require a dedicated leader to ensure continuity, accountability, and performance.
