The Role:Senior Civil Engineering ManagerThe Senior Civil Engineering Manager - Renewable Energy will be based in our Arlington, Virginia headquarters or remote in Mid-Atlantic region. In this role you will be a part of civil engineering department responsible for overseeing third party consultants and provide in house support on civil engineering aspect of the project for project development, M&A, and construction of utility solar array projects. The ideal candidate will be with the expertise on land development in the MidAtlantic region and able to manage the third-party consultant and able to lead the group of civil engineers.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage all phases of site-civil engineering projects, from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Lead all design aspects, including layout, grading, earthwork, stormwater management, utilities, and erosion control.
- Ensure designs meet Energix standards, federal, state, and local codes and regulations
- Request for proposals from the third-party engineering and geotechnical consultants, and proposal analysis and contracting.
- Lead project teams, coordinating with internal staff, clients, contractors, and stakeholders to meet project objectives.
- Oversee project documentation, including contracts and permits.
- Monitor project progress, addressing challenges to maintain timelines and budgets.
- Develop and manage project schedules, proactively resolving delays or obstacles.
- Participate in local, state, and federal permitting processes.
- Ensure compliance with design specifications and permit requirements through as-built drawings.
- Participate in the early stages to advance level development of the projects to provide engineering supports.
- Perform review of geotechnical reports from third party consultants to identify potential geotechnical risks of the project.
- Perform site visit with internal team and with consultants to identify site development, construction risk, and find a solution with designs.
- Manages efforts to problem solve for engineering challenges and coordinates with project consultants and site managers.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- P.E. license.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Civil Engineering specializing in stormwater design.
- Land Development experience in VA, PA, and OH states is a plus.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD or similar software.
- Experience in civil engineering codes, and standards.
- Ability to analyze financial impacts of engineering requirements and challenges.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Team player with strong initiative.
