Responsibilities
The Senior Actuarial Analyst will support the Actuarial Finance function for HarmonyCares, with primary responsibility for driving the accurate and timely recognition of Value-Based Care (VBC) Performance, understanding performance and trend drivers, and translating complex analytics into clear financial and operational insight. This role will partner closely with finance, clinical, and strategy stakeholders and will play a key role in building scalable analytical and interpretive workflows, including automation of recurring analyses, forecasting processes, and performance narratives to support senior leadership decision making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support Actuarial Finance in the analysis, forecasting, and recognition of VBC Membership, Revenue, and Medical Expense, including assessment of trend drivers, utilization dynamics, and emerging risks
- Design, build, and maintain actuarial and financial models supporting trend projections, forecasting, VBC performance tracking, and risk arrangement evaluation
- Translate complex modeling results and data analyses into clear, decision ready outputs, including executive level summaries, financial commentary, and performance narratives
- Collaborate with actuarial, finance, clinical, and strategy teams to ensure analytical findings are aligned with business context and operational realities
- Lead or contribute to the development of data tools that stratify large datasets across financial, utilization, quality, and outcomes dimensions
- Communicate findings succinctly and effectively to a range of stakeholders, adjusting technical depth and framing based on audience needs
- Develop repeatable, automated analytical workflows, leveraging scripting, templated models, and AI assisted tools where appropriate, to improve accuracy, timeliness, and scalability
- Identify opportunities to improve existing processes through automation, standardization, or AI assisted augmentation, while maintaining transparency, controls, and appropriate documentation
- Establish trusted performance narratives used in senior leadership decision-making
- Reduce cycle time and manual effort for recurring VBC performance analyses through process improvement and automation
- Employees will be required to perform other job-related assignments as requested
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
- 5+ years of experience in an actuarial, analytical, or finance role within a team-based environment
- 5+ years of experience in managed care, healthcare, or a related regulated industry
- Strong analytical and modeling skills using Excel or comparable modeling tools
- Strong data analysis skills using SQL, SAS, R, Python or comparable tools
- Demonstrated experience automating recurring analytical work, models, or reporting processes
- Ability to synthesize quantitative results into clear written and verbal explanations for non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic, evolving, and sometimes ambiguous environment
- Sound professional judgment, intellectual curiosity, and comfort questioning results, assumptions, and outputs
- Strong communication skills, including the confidence to surface risks, limitations, and uncertainties
- Demonstrated ability to apply AI responsibly, with attention to data quality, bias, reproducibility, and professional standards
- Comfort preparing executive level summaries that clearly distinguish modeled results, interpretation, and judgment
- Experience supporting Value Based Care, ACOs, MA, MSSP, or other risk-based reimbursement models preferred
- Practical experience using AI enabled tools to support analysis, interpretation, documentation, or narrative development, with appropriate validation and oversight preferred
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- ASA or higher actuarial credential
