Senior Accountant, Inventory & Cost Accounting

Role Description:

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to take full ownership of Provivi’s inventory accounting. You will be the go-to person for inventory balances, Bills of Materials (BOMs), standard costs, and month-end inventory close. You will work directly with our third-party manufacturers and warehouses to make sure what we record matches what is on the ground. You will also help build the standard cost assumptions behind our 5-Year Plan.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Inventory Ownership & Month-End Close

• Own end-to-end inventory accounting, including raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods held at Provivi and at third-party manufacturers and warehouses (US, South America, Europe, Asia)
• Prepare and enter monthly inventory results in the ERP system, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and cost of sales
• Perform monthly reconciliations of inventory subledger to general ledger, with documented support and reviewer sign-off
• Support inventory valuation under U.S. GAAP, including lower of cost or net realizable value analysis and excess and obsolete reserve assessments
• Analyze and explain inventory variances (purchase price, usage, yield, and standard-to-actual) and recommend corrective entries

Third-Party Manufacturer & Warehouse Coordination

• Serve as the primary finance contact for contract manufacturers, warehouses, and logistics providers on inventory matters
• Coordinate physical count sheets and cycle counts, and gather and review third-party inventory reports and confirmations
• Reconcile third-party reports to Provivi’s inventory records on a periodic basis; investigate, document, and resolve differences promptly; and retain evidence of review and approval

BOM & Standard Cost Management

• Create, maintain, and control BOMs in the ERP, including a defined process to review and approve changes
• Periodically reconcile BOM unit costs to the inventory subledger and to underlying supporting documentation (supplier invoices, manufacturer quotes, purchase orders)
• Maintain standard costs, and perform periodic roll-ups and revaluations as inputs and pricing change

Planning & Strategic Support

• Develop standard cost assumptions for the 5-Year Plan, including material, conversion, and manufacturing cost inputs and scale assumptions
• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership to model cost of goods sold and gross margin scenarios

Controls, Documentation & Audit Support

• Document inventory processes and internal controls, and help design controls that scale as the business grows
• Prepare inventory schedules and support for external auditors, and respond to audit requests
• Identify process improvements that increase accuracy, timeliness, and audit readiness

Additional Ad-Hoc Assignments

• Support the Accounting Team with additional projects and ad-hoc assignments as assigned, which may include special analyses, account reconciliations, technical accounting research, and support for financing, audit, or reporting initiatives
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities outside of inventory as workload and priorities require

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience with significant inventory and cost accounting responsibility, ideally in manufacturing, life sciences, chemicals, or consumer products
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP inventory guidance (ASC 330), standard costing, and variance analysis
• Hands-on ERP experience, including inventory and BOM modules (Infor preferred)
• Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliation and modeling)
• Strong written and verbal communication, with comfort managing external vendors and partners
• Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet close deadlines

Preferred

• CPA or CMA
• Experience with contract manufacturers or third-party logistics and warehouse arrangements
• Experience supporting financial audits and documenting internal controls
• Experience building cost inputs for long-range plans or financial models
• Exposure to multi-entity or international operations
• Experience in a small or high-growth company
  

Working Conditions

• Fully remote, with flexibility on daily hours; availability during month-end close is expected
• Virtual meetings with the Santa Monica team and external partners
• No travel required
