What We Offer: 

  • Compensation Range - $80,000- $91,000 annually (salary exempt), based on experience and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined in accordance with state-specific pay transparency requirements. 
  • 4-Day (32-hour) Workweek - Full-time, exempt role with a 32-hour weekly schedule.

About the Role 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team as an in-house accounting specialist. This role independently executes complex accounting work within established standards, controls, and leadership direction.


This position handles high-impact revenue and billing scenarios, applies professional judgment within defined authority, and serves as a senior escalation resource for complex accounting questions. The Senior Accountant position supports revenue data integrity, billing accuracy, tax compliance execution, and audit readiness while operating within established company policies and GAAP standards.


This role reports to the CEO, CFO, and COO.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

The following duties are considered essential to the successful performance of this position. These tasks are central to maintaining compliance, ensuring financial integrity, and supporting operational continuity.

  • Accounting Operations and Financial Reporting
    • Independently execute complex general ledger activity, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
    • Lead month-end and year-end close processes under established close structure
    • Prepare and review financial statements for accuracy and completeness prior to leadership review
    • Analyze balance sheet and income statement variances and communicate findings
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP and documented internal accounting policies
  • Revenue Recognition and Contract Review
    • Apply ASC 606 guidance to complex or non-routine revenue scenarios within established accounting frameworks
    • Review customer contracts and amendments to determine appropriate accounting treatment under existing policy
    • Analyze revenue timing, deferred revenue, credits, refunds, and adjustments
    • Escalate precedent-setting or ambiguous interpretations requiring policy-level decisions
    • Serve as main point of contact for complex billing or invoicing issues within defined authority
  • Data Integrity and Systems Ownership
    • Investigate complex discrepancies across accounting, billing, and payment systems
    • Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions within established standards
    • Validate system outputs and mappings against accounting policy
    • Participate in system enhancements by providing accounting review and feedback
  • Stripe and Payment Platform Operations
    • Independently reconcile complex transaction activity, settlements, fees, refunds, and chargebacks
    • Ensure proper classification and recording of payment activity
    • Analyze irregularities and escalate systemic configuration issues
  • Tax Compliance
    • Execute multi-state sales tax compliance processes, including filings and documentation
    • Monitor nexus triggers and complete new registrations
    • Partner with external advisors by preparing supporting documentation and schedules
  • Internal Controls and Audit Support
    • Implement and maintain internal controls appropriate for company size and complexity, including SOX-style controls where applicable
    • Support internal and external audits, reviews, and year-end tax preparation
    • Prepare reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation as requested
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify recurring issues and propose enhancements to accounting workflows
    • Document accounting procedures for clarity and consistency
    • Support automation and system improvement initiatives within assigned scope

Required Qualifications

  • Education
    • A Masters degree in accounting, economics, finance, or a closely related field is required. Equivalent advanced knowledge gained through extensive professional experience may be accepted where demonstrated expertise meets the requirements of the role.
    • An active CPA license is preferred. 
  • Experience
    • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a small to mid-sized business
    • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606 application
    • Experience supporting multi-state sales tax compliance
    • Experience preparing financial statements and reconciliations
    • Experience working with external accounting firms
    • Experience in SaaS or recurring revenue environment preferred


Preferred Skills and Competencies: 

  • Experience in SaaS or services-based businesses
  • Experience operating in a lean finance environment or as a first in-house accounting hire
  • Experience guiding cross-functional stakeholders on revenue recognition, billing, and payment workflow


Work Environment and Expectations

This is a fully remote position working Monday-Friday. 

  • This role operates across all U.S. time zones; however, Eastern Time (EST) availability is preferred to best support current team needs.
  • Employees are expected to work from a quiet, dedicated and secure home workspace (mobile or on-the-go work is not supported for this role). 
  • Company-issued desktop equipment will be provided.
  • Employees must be able to sit and use a computer and phone for extended periods. 
  • Employees are expected to maintain a reliable high-speed internet connection and to be available during core collaboration hours
