Role Snapshot – Strategic Communications for Social Impact

We’re seeking a Senior Account Executive to help manage day-to-day client work and support strategic communications programs for social-impact organizations.

This is an ideal role for a communications professional who is highly organized, proactive, thoughtful, and energized by work that contributes to positive social change. You’ll help translate strategy into execution — drafting strong materials, managing workstreams, supporting client relationships, coordinating across internal teams, and contributing to media, digital, and social communications efforts.

This is not a marketing, advertising, or sales role. It is a strategic communications role for someone who enjoys working closely with clients, keeping projects moving, communicating clearly, and ensuring no important details fall through the cracks. The ideal candidate brings experience supporting digital and/or social media communications, including social content development, executive visibility, digital campaigns, analytics, or owned-channel content.

Because much of our work is confidential and trusted, we’re looking for someone with strong judgment, high integrity, who is proactive and has a deep sense of responsibility.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a reliable day-to-day partner to clients and internal teams, helping manage relationships with responsiveness, clarity, and care.
  • Support strategic communications programs, including:
    • Developing and executing communications plans
    • Contributing to proactive media, digital, and social media strategies
    • Drafting messaging, talking points, briefing documents, articles, social media posts, LinkedIn content, newsletters, website copy, and client-ready materials
  • Supporting media outreach, story development, thought leadership efforts, and owned-channel communications.
  • Helping prepare clients and senior leaders for meetings, events, interviews, digital visibility opportunities, and public-facing opportunities
  • Project manage specific lanes of work, including timelines, deadlines, next steps, and coordination across team members.
  • Staff and help manage external events for clients.
  • Track client requests and ensure timely follow-through so that questions, opportunities, and deliverables do not fall between the cracks.
  • Exercise sound judgment about when to bring in senior team members for counsel, approvals, or issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure work is thoughtful, well-organized, strategically aligned, and delivered with excellence.
  • Contribute ideas that strengthen client impact and help evolve Newton Street’s offerings.

Client Sectors You Could Support

  • Global Health
  • Women’s Health
  • Climate, Environment, and Agricultural Development
  • Economic Opportunity
  • AI for Social Good
  • Philanthropy & Social Impact

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of progressive professional experience in communications, public relations, strategic communications, journalism, digital communications, social media, nonprofit communications, or a related field.
  • Required experience supporting digital and/or social media communications, such as social content writing, LinkedIn or executive thought leadership, digital campaigns, analytics and reporting, community engagement, website content, email, or newsletter communications.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, polished, persuasive materials for clients and external audiences.
  • Experience supporting communications programs in a nonprofit organization, communications agency, foundation, social impact organization, policy organization, or private sector company.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Comfort working directly with clients and representing an organization with professionalism, warmth, and confidence.
  • Understanding of media, digital communications, external communications trends, and how different channels can advance strategic goals.
  • Curiosity about one or more of Newton Street’s core issue areas, including global health, women’s health, mental health, economic opportunity, climate, philanthropy, or social impact.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and sound judgment.
  • A proactive, flexible, and solutions-oriented approach to new challenges.
  • Comfort with technology, remote collaboration, and tools that help teams work efficiently.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

Bonus Points

  • Existing media relationships or experience supporting earned media outreach.

  • Experience translating complex or technical subject matter into clear, accessible content for public audiences.
  • Experience staffing events, executive briefings, media opportunities, or client convenings.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $75,000–$100,000. The actual salary offered will vary depending on candidate qualifications, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal pay equity.
  • Comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, vision, disability, accidental death & dismemberment insurance, and retirement plan.
  • Generous paid time off and holidays — including a year-end paid break.
  • Fully remote, U.S.-based work environment.
  • A culture where your voice matters and your impact is visible.
