Summary


Hampshire County Council is in search of skilled SEN Caseworkers to become part of their SEND Service, working remotely. The role involves managing a substantial statutory caseload across the 0-11 Years and Preparing for Adulthood (PFA) pathways. Responsibilities include coordinating Education, Health, and Care assessments, conducting annual reviews, handling tribunal activities, and managing EHCP casework in accordance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice. This position is ideal for seasoned Local Authority SEND professionals adept at handling complex caseloads, tribunal work, and meeting statutory deadlines in a dynamic SEND setting.

Responsibilities


  • Oversee statutory EHC assessments for individuals aged 0-25.
  • Handle intricate SEND caseloads and adhere to statutory deadlines.
  • Serve as the primary contact for parents, carers, schools, and professionals.
  • Draft, revise, and maintain Education, Health, and Care Plans.
  • Coordinate input from education, health, and social care experts.
  • Conduct Annual Reviews and make necessary EHCP amendments.
  • Prepare documentation and evidence for SEND Tribunals.
  • Participate in case discussions, meetings, and reviews as needed.
  • Manage correspondence with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Keep precise case records and update Hampshire systems.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases when necessary.
  • Collaborate with Special Needs Officers and SEND Managers to ensure compliance and uphold quality standards.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • At least 12 months of experience in a similar SEN Caseworker/EHCP Caseworker role within a Local Authority SEND Team.
  • Proven ability to manage caseloads exceeding 250 cases.
  • Experience in coordinating 20-week EHC Needs Assessments from initiation to completion.
  • Proficiency in completing Annual Reviews.
  • Experience in preparing and managing SEND Tribunal packs and tribunal casework.
  • Comprehensive understanding of:
    • Children and Families Act 2014
    • SEND Code of Practice
    • EHCP statutory processes
    • SEND Tribunal procedures
  • Ability to articulate previous caseloads, statutory responsibilities, and SEND processes during interviews.

  • DFE Form confirming a minimum of 2 years PQE.
