Role Summary The SAP ABAP Developer serves as the core technical
expert bridging operational business needs with SAP Manufacturing
modules. Working directly with SAP Center of Excellence architects and
business subject matter experts (SMEs), you will design, develop, and
validate custom ABAP solutions and enhancements specifically tailored
for shop-floor and production environments. You will translate
business requirements into technical specifications, build robust
RICEFW objects within SAP manufacturing modules, and ensure seamless
system adoption during Go-Live and hyper-care phases.
Key Responsibilities
ABAP Development for Manufacturing: Design, code, and implement custom
ABAP solutions (RICEFW objects, BAPIs, BADIs, User Exits, and
Enhancement Framework) specifically tied to SAP Manufacturing modules
(PP, QM, PM).
Module Enhancement & Support: Configure and enhance core SAP
production and shop-floor modules to map accurately to the client's
utility infrastructure production processes.
System Integration: Build and sustain complex integrations using ABAP,
IDocs, OData, and APIs between SAP S/4HANA, SAP Execution systems
(ME/MII/DM), and third-party shop-floor machinery or SCADA systems.
ERP Modernization Support: Actively participate in the SAP S/4HANA
rollout by detailing technical requirements, designing end-to-end
process workflows, and developing system extensions.
Continuous Improvement & Debugging: Troubleshoot production issues,
optimize ABAP batch jobs, debug complex code, and refine Fiori/UI5
interfaces to maximize plant efficiency and user adoption.
Qualifications & Requirements
Technical ABAP Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience in advanced
SAP ABAP development, including Object-Oriented ABAP (OO-ABAP), ALV
Reports, Dialog Programming, CDS views, AMDP, and OData service
creation.
Manufacturing Module Experience: Deep working knowledge and technical
development experience within SAP Manufacturing modules. Must have
strong experience in SAP PP (Production Planning); experience with QM
(Quality Management), PM (Plant Maintenance), or SAP ME/MII/DM is
highly preferred.
ERP Migration Experience: Proven experience participating in
full-lifecycle SAP implementations or large-scale ERP modernization
projects (SAP S/4HANA experience is highly preferred).
Business Acumen: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to
translate operational factory floor constraints into scalable SAP ABAP
technical specifications.
