This function will maintain existing customers and increase sales and profitability revenue by growth of existing and the addition of new customers, all at levels of growth and profitability that meet monthly and annual objectives established by the Vice President of Sales and Regional Sales Manager(s). EXPECTATIONS: This person should be a role model for the Core Values, Vision and Mission of Gemini, and the Field Sales Representatives behavior reflects the values throughout assigned areas of responsibility. This position consistently maintains a positive attitude, displays a desire and passion conducive to personal growth as well as the growth of the company and is constantly in proactive pursuit of self-improvement. Must be goal oriented, capable of establishing goals and strategies that are consistent with those of the Trade Sales Division, plans for success, successfully implements the plan and is accountable for the results. AUTHORITY: Establish and operate to achieve budget goals developed with management. Field level service decisions that relate to maintaining Geminis image through making informed and on the spot decisions to resolve complaints, service issues, etc., within reason (limited to product replacement). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Generate new and repeat sales of assigned customers and/or territories by providing product and technical information in a timely manner. Increases sales of existing products at acceptable levels of profit to new customers within the paint and hardware distribution channel. Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutions. Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications. Present price, credit and terms in accordance with standard procedures and customers profitability profiles. Knows, understands and abides by company rules, policies and procedures. Sets realistic goals, along with a plan to attain those goals, both individually and within established geographical area/territory Sets specific new business goals by region, identify key prospects and successfully closes new business opportunities on a regular basis. Regularly monitors progress against set goals and formulates and executes plans to ensure goals are met or exceeded. Annually, prepares revenue and expense budgets for the territory, with guidance from Regional Sales Manager. Operates within approved budget limits Understands how to read an income statement and regularly participates in incentive meetings to gain insight into and participate in the process. Obtains any training needed from the company to manage in this fashion. Maintains an awareness of competition, and ensures the sales territory maximizes its potential based on competitive situation. Meets all paperwork requirements set by the company including, but not limited to expense reports, call reports, goal management, etc., both individually and regionally. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to meet and accomplish the following. Experience: At least five years of coatings sales preferred. Performance will be reviewed periodically, based upon development, responsibility and innovation. Skills/Knowledge: The Trade Salesperson must: Be able to produce results with little direct supervision. Exemplify professionalism in personal appearance, manner and dress according to acceptable standards set by the company. Be mature, flexible and self-motivated. Possess a high work ethic, moral and personal integrity and honesty. Have or gain an understanding of Open Book Management, and manage by the principles thereof. Must be self-motivated and goal oriented. The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Be product literate. Be a proactive problem solver. Possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Job Related Working Requirements: Must be computer literate. Proficient in Microsoft Office related products.
