Salary: $70,000–$75,000 annually + benefits

Bat Conservation International (BCI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ending bat extinctions worldwide seeks a Research Scientist to join BCI with a focus on bats and wind energy. BCI is a distributed organization with staff across the world and incorporated in Austin, TX. BCI is a global leader on finding solutions that support renewable wind energy development while reducing its impact on bat populations. Over the past two decades, BCI’s wind energy program has designed and executed ground-breaking evidence-based scientific work that leads to meaningful outcomes.
Position Description:
The Research Scientist will report to the Director of Bats and Wind Energy, supporting high-priority research projects and evidence-based conservation. This is a highly quantitative position focused on analyzing ecological data to advance bat conservation and renewable energy solutions. Initial responsibilities will focus on delivering priority wind energy research projects and quantitative analyses related to bat fatalities and acoustics at wind energy facilities.
This is a full-time position with an initial one-year appointment, with the potential for extension based on funding availability and organizational needs. As organizational priorities and project needs evolve, responsibilities may expand or shift to support additional research initiatives.
