Research Associate - In Vitro Development

We want to make a difference and help heal the World. We have an immediate opening for a Research Associate - In Vitro Development. This position is available in Calgary, AB. 

The Research Associate supports Providence Therapeutics’ research, platform development, and preclinical programs through the execution, analysis, and interpretation of in vitro studies. 

We are looking for someone who brings more than strong laboratory skills. The ideal candidate is curious, engaged, communicative, and comfortable contributing their perspective. They ask questions, participate actively in scientific discussions, raise concerns early, and bring ideas and potential solutions to the team. 

This role requires someone who can work effectively in a fast-moving research environment, adapt to changing priorities, take ownership of assigned work, and collaborate closely with colleagues across scientific disciplines. 

How we plan on keeping you busy:

• Plan and execute in vitro experiments supporting research and platform-development programs
• Perform mammalian cell culture, transfections, ELISA, flow cytometry, viability/cytotoxicity, screening, and related assays. 
• Analyze and interpret experimental results and present findings clearly during team and project meetings. 
• Support the development and optimization of in vitro assays and experimental workflows. 
• Troubleshoot routine experimental challenges and recommend practical next steps. 
• Manage multiple experimental priorities while maintaining strong organization and follow-through. 
• Communicate proactively with teammates and leadership, including unexpected results, concerns, and potential timeline impacts. 
• Maintain accurate ELN documentation and support protocols, SOPs, laboratory organization, and general lab readiness. 
• Support and share knowledge with interns, Research Technicians, and newer team members as appropriate.   

What will help you get here:

• BSc or MSc in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related discipline.  
• Approximately 2 years of relevant laboratory experience.  
• Strong foundation in mammalian cell culture and in vitro laboratory techniques.  
• Ability to learn new assays and technologies quickly.  
• Experience with mRNA, lipid nanoparticles, transfection, flow cytometry, ELISA, or immunological assays is an asset; expertise across all areas is not required.
