Exchange Life is one of the fastest-growing e-commerce travel jewelry brands in the US. We sell collectible country charms for travelers, and our content machine has generated over a quarter billion views across TikTok and Instagram. We run a fully remote content team of editors, filmmakers, and creators across the world.
This role exists because we need more of the simple, native-feeling videos that drive our growth — and we need someone with a creator mindset to make them. You don't need to be an expert editor. You need to instinctively know what makes a video work.

What Success Looks Like
Within your first month, you're consistently turning raw, unpolished footage into simple, scroll-stopping TikToks and Reels — and pitching your own video ideas, not just executing ours. Success is having an opinion on what will perform, being right often, and getting better every week by watching what the numbers say.

Core Responsibilities

1. Edit TikToks and Reels from raw, unpolished footage — text-on-screen, and simple TikTok native formats
2. Come up with new video concepts and creative visuals, not just execute given formats
3. Spot what's working in your own edits and on TikTok, and apply it fast
4. Iterate based on feedback and performance data
5. Communicate proactively and daily (async) about output and ideas

Must-Haves

• An eye for it — you can watch a set of clips and tell exactly which are good, which aren't, and why
• Experience editing TikTok/Reels — including simple text-on-screen videos, not just talking heads
• You're a genuine, daily TikTok/Reels consumer — you understand this content natively
• Creative opinions — you can look at raw footage and see the visual story that will perform
• Comfortable working from rough, unpolished source footage
• Proficiency in CapCut
• Clear written English and reliable daily communication

Nice-to-Haves

• Trend radar — you spot rising audio, text styles, and formats before they peak
• Familiarity with TikTok/Instagram analytics — you can read watch time and drop-off data and improve your next edit from it

Not a Fit If

• Your portfolio is mostly long-form, YouTube, or event/wedding content
• You need a finished brief for every video and don't enjoy pitching your own ideas
• You don't actually watch short-form content yourself
• You're looking for a short-term project or side gig

Compensation & Working Style

• Engagement: Independent contractor, paid in USD
• Compensation: Competitive base rate + performance bonuses
• Location: 100% remote
• Hours: ~40 hrs/week, long-term role
• Schedule: Fully flexible — work whenever you want, as long as you turn work around quickly and communicate daily (async). No timezone overlap required.
• Time off: Flexible PTO — take the time you need, just coordinate with the team
